I have bought a generator to use vs hooking up to electric and water at horse shows. The cost to hook up has gotten crazy, so I thought that I would just use a generator. Is it ok to run the generator 24 hrs a day for 4 days in a row? Or, should I shut it off for some time during the day? I will have dogs in the camper all the time, so during the summer it will be difficult to shut the air off. Your advice is appreciated.

I am not in GA I would not want to compare summer heat in NE to Southern GA but, we leave the pooch in our LQ when we go out. Crack a couple of windows and open the roof vents. I am surprised at how comfortable it is inside when we get back. I even considered installing one of those Fantastic vents this year. My buddy has one and loves it.

Run your generator all you want to. It is better for it. It will keep the carburator clean. When you don't run it for a long time, the gas in the carb will evaporate, and can cause internal parts to stick. Kind of like when you lawn mower after sitting all winter. However, you should shut it down for a little while before filling up the gas tank. I have worked on RV's, horse trailers, and gererators for years. I run mine all the time, so 3 or 4 days is good for it.

If you are parked in the boonies with no neighbors, by all means run the generator as long as you want to. However, if I were parked next to you and your generator was running at three in the morning I would be tempted to unlimber my 357 and put it permanently out of commission. It is considered polite to shut off the generator before 10 pm and not start it up again before 7 am. Most rv parks enforce this rule.

You made me chuckle......as my friends know....I would not be able to start my generator before 7 am 'cause that would require me to get out of the bed.....And I do agree that a certain amount of regard for others at camps and show grounds is a good thing.

You folks are funny.... In Ga. heat in the summer you will need to run it all the way through or you will die.....LOL. Just get a quite one. South Ga. heat in the summer you will sweat at night without A/C. Be considerate to your neighbors but I guarantee they will be running theirs also... I grew up near here in Fitzgerald, Ga.
