I was working in the chinchilla barn this morning when my neighbor stopped by with her two year old son.  He always wants to say hello to every animal on the place.  Since I have dogs, cats, parrots, chinchillas, chickens, horses ,goats, and fish, this takes a while.  On our rounds, I noticed that the goat, Starz, was lying next to the stock trailer in the shade.  He was still there 45 minutes later when we headed for the corral.  He was stuck!! He had lain down next to the trailer and rolled over onto his side and under the trailer.  I had to jack the trailer up as far as it would go and climb under the trailer myself.  Now, this goat weighs in excess of three hundred pounds.  I had to brace my feet on the floor supports and drag the goat free.  The neighbor boy thought this was the funniest thing he had ever witnessed.  He laughed a giggled the whole time I was grunting and panting.  To make it all worse, when I got the goat free he went to the little boy, nuzzled his tummy, and whickered like a lovesick dog.  Damn goat never whickered at me!!

He knew you were in no mood to love on him. He read the look in your eyes, the grimace on your face, and ran for cover. He figured he'd be better off staying out of reach for a while. Sympathy from a stranger was his best defense.

Goats are so much fun- a good laugh anyways! My goat loved no-one but me. I had him from 3 months on up to 17 years. A x-mas gift from a friend.
R.I.P. Oliver- I do miss you.
