This weekend we start our first trip of the year. It is a 1200mile round trip to Northern Natal. The roads are not the best in the country as we will be passing through the Transkei (which is a rural province where little or no road maintanance has been done in over 15 years).
I have done some rough calculations on what we envisage doing this year and it comes to roughly 10 000miles. This will include a trip up North to Zimbabwe and Zambia where you can imagine the roads are not especially good.
I believe this will be a chalenge for my Cherokee trailer and we look forward to posting some pics and details of our trips.
We play Polocrosse - and my Daughter and I are going to try and play at as many different venues as we can.
I am confident that our Cherokee will take to Africa like a buck to water...so watch this space for details of our adventure.

Well guys and galls.
Our 1st adventure is over. We are home safe and sound and we had the most amaizing time. I have attached some pics of the scenery along the way as well as some pics of my daughter (Chevy-Lea) in action (she has the red and black shirt on).Oh yes and a pic of Dad's new Pony - her name is Queen Mambo (Queenie for short).
The Cherokee performed well, and it was really great to have a comfortable ride for our animals. It was an 11 hour trip there, and we decided to split it over two days on the return leg. we stayed at the most amaizing cattle ranch in the Underberg region on the way home - it is the most awsome landscape, that no photos could do justice. It is on the foot hills of the Drakensberg mountains - lush and green all year round...wow when I grow up I would love a place there....
Our next adventure is in two weeks when we venture down the Gardern Route (my place of birth)...more pics to follow.

Hi Retento
The MWM is actually coping quite well. Obviously the long uphills catch us, but to be quite honest there is not much difference towing the cherokee to our 2H bumper pull. It does run better at altitude I find (which is quite strange - but I supose it is the thinner air).
I have a friend that has a Sooner stock trailer that he loads 6 horses in - he tows it with a Dodge Ram 250 (I think it has a twin turbo v8 diesel - but not sure) and he cruises past me like I am looking for parking.... but we are very happy with our rig - it serves our purpose very well.
There is a company here in SA that does LHD to RHD conversions to new Dodge Rams (they have the Cummins diesels I think) so I am aiming towards one of them when I can afford it (they are quite expensive here)

The beauty about South Africa, is its diversity.... we have a lot of very green areas, especially along the coast and that varies from mild to tropical climate. As you venture inland it becomes dryer. Towards the West we have desert and when you go up North it becomes green anl lush again...
I will post pis of our trips as we go and then you will get an Idea of what our beautifull country is like.
It is such a wonderfull experience, building memories with my daughter.... I am a LUCKY man.
