look at this article listed below.

This looks just like our "new" mare, Eve... When we went home to spend Thanksgiving with our family in Louisiana, we went out to see my mother-in-law's TWH, EVE.. The last I'd seen her was 2 years ago, and she was a beautiful butterball.. Needless to say, I was so shocked that I started to cry. My mother-in-law is aging and is no longer able to care for EVE.. A friend of hers agreed to let Eve pasture at a place of his out in the country, but it is apparent that she ate up her pasture and was fed only sporadically..I called a local(La.) vet from my cell phone, arranged her coggins and health papers, and drove back to Louisiana after Christmas... pulling an empty horse trailer... We left to come back to our current home in TX on New Year's day... Eve took the 11 hour drive fine, even tho I worried about her because she never drank a drop..  I'd brought her home water with her, but she refused it..... She is already looking brighter and happier and loving the attention she is getting . .

It's great that you have a heart and are willing to take care of EVE. I'm sure that Eve is very happy with you....

Eve is looking a lot better.. She's probably put on 100 lbs in the 20 days we've had her..She tape-weighed at 880lbs yesterday. (15 hands)...Her backbone still sticks up, but not way up from the spring of her ribs, which are now only slightly visible..Her withers are still prominent and her neck is still thin, but her eyes are bright and interested. I'm guessing she was probably a 3 or 4 on the body index scale..  She still has a way to go.. has no muscle tone at all.. Her tail is like straw and just breaks when you try to brush it..Her coat is getting a nice (albeit fuzzy)shine to it... i put her on wheat germ oil and half a skinny flake of alfalfa along with her other hay and pellets.....I'll have to take some pics tomorrow.....  Bless her heart.. She's as sweet as she can be and never fails to greet me with a nicker, which I love and makes me feel good.. my own mare, Tamber (aka: Diva, Queen Bee, The Barn B_ _ _ _) doesn't even whicker at me; I guess it's beneath her..
