I have a 2001 F-350 crew cab 4X4 with a 7.3 Powerstroke. It is SRW with a 3.73 rear. I am currently pulling an Elite Mustang 4 horse trailer with a 4 ft short wall in the dressing room, no living quarters. Previous to this trailer I pulled an Elite 3 horse with an 6 ft short wall living quarters. I had no problems, and would like to go back to a living quarters trailer.

As long as your trailer and contents do not exceed 12,500 #s, you should be good to tow with an automatic transmission. A standard transmission will increase your truck's capacity to 13,500 #s.

Should have no problem with that. The only thing you might want to upgrade since you have a single wheel truck is add a set of firestone airbags to the rear. Ford is bad about springs saging after a few years and miles.

LOL!!! That's some real good advise.... Specially coming from the seller of the trailer!!! cutter99.... Being that your truck is a single rear wheel, you might want to invest in a set of "Timbrens" of a pair of "Firestone ride rites". You load up the LQ and fill the tanks and it may squat pretty good. What's the GVWR on a 2001 F350 SRW??... 10,000#

I'm going against the tide ... That trailer fully loaded is too much weight for the tires and wheels of the truck.
Check the payload and axle capacities of the truck against the hitch weight of the trailer. A full square Ten feet of wall is a lot of weight on the truck. Trailer towing weight capacity is not the only issue.
Add three passengers and your truck is significantly over its gross ratings.
But... it's your money, animals, and well being, your choice.

Agree with horsepuller. You will exceed the gvw of the truck and very likely the rear axle rating. Adding air bags, extra srprings won't increase those specs. Looked at a 2008 350 srw couple of days ago and the gvw was 11,500 lbs.But as HP says it's your $.

I agree with both above. The pin weight will kill ya and put your tires over capacity unless you want to upgrade to a bigger wheel and tire combination that will support that weight. That is the 19.5 in. size from what I remember. If you do that then the next thing is going to be the axle weight rating.

I just love all the "speculation". A SRW 350 can go around a ~3500# pin weight before the rear axle limit is reached. You can guess all day long, but until you know the pin weight of the loaded trailer there is NO way to know if your truck can handle it.
Since the seller has posted on this thread maybe he can provide the pin weight.

well... that trailer has 2, 7000 pound axles, so I will use that to make the determination that the GVW of the trailer is 14,000 pounds.
Using 20% of that as tongue weight is 2800 pounds. The OP has to determine if that's within the payload of their truck.
However. I am EVER so doubtful that that trailer, fully loaded with water in storage tanks, 4 horses, tack, feed, etc. etc. is only 14,000 pounds. I could be mistaken though. It could be close.
Not only is there a 10' LQ, but ?? 4' of mid-tack.
And, is the 350 SRW an 8' or shorter bed? (I'm not sure if 1 tons are available with a shorter bed or not, so forgive me.)

I have an 01' F350 CC short box SRW V10. Also have Firestone air bags. I pull a 09' Kiefer LQ 8.5' SW 3H 8' wide w/ 7500# axles, with no problem. Might be without the air bags. Also bought it from the same dealership. Even looked seriously at the trailer. Sean is not telling you anything just to sell a trailer. This is the second trailer I bought from Denny's and believe them to be honorable and great to deal with. If I have a question or a problem, pick up the phone and they will help you any way they can.

Just to ensure everyone is on the same page. This particular trailer has a SQUARE 10' LQ. That means the total length of the floor/trailer is more than a 10' SW slant. (therefore, more structure underneath) Additionally, since it is a stock style - no dividers - and it has a mid tack, that adds a few more feet to the length.
Do I have enough truck for this trailer?
