When we got up on the roof to see what to do about leaks, it has a thick layer of what appears to be cool seal that has cracked up some but it hard and tough to get off, under that it appears to be a layer of foam. What would be a good way to get this off if any? If you cant get it off chipped at it with a screwdriver and man is it tough how do you fix any leaks? Please tell me there is an easy fix. Thanks in advance.

It is a Kiefer built (2001) and the Roof is Aluminum it is cool seal that is put over the seam and when we were trying to see if it would come off because it looks so bad (cracked and peeling) you could pull out some of this black foam. I have the trailer down to the bare wall inside and it is not insulated, so what ever the foam is is on the outside.

One of the used campers we purchased a long time ago, had the Cool Seal installed in an effort to stop the roof leaks. I tried heat, solvents and finally ended up sanding the material off. This was difficult, as the camper's sheet metal was about half the thickness of most horse trailers. It would have been very easy to abrade right through the metal.
