IYO - are they a good idea to buy?

I really do not need a 3HRS, but I wonder about resale?

If you need a two horse, then buy a three... Use the extra stall for hay, feed and stuff.

Good point!

Most of the time I just have one horse...

Do many people buy 2 horse LQ?  I hardly ever see them!

I have a 2 horse with 15 foot short wall. My neighbor has one with a 16 foot shortwall and I see several at trail camps. My camp neighbor at Big Creek sold her 8 foot shortwall LQ 4 star for the same price she paid for it after three years of use. They are out there and sell pretty good too if it is a quality trailer such as 4-star, Elite, C&C etc.

Thanks for the post.

My goal is to have more LQ space and less unused horse space :)

That is exactly why I have a 2 horse with large LQ. I have a huge bathroom along with a double size closet, linen closet, a sofa and a dinette. L shaped kitchen with the 6.0 fridge, microwave and stove and lots of cabinets. I just wish I had an oven. Going to buy a portable one soon.

Make sure you get the 8 foot wide. It really adds a lot of extra space. I also have the hayrack on top to store hay and 2 manger access doors. Some folks don't like mangers. I have had no issues, so personal preference.

Also a good idea to get a cam-latch on the back door so you can use the back as a mud room. The door from the horse compartment to the LQ is very handy for this type set-up. We just clean out the poop, bag the extra shavings and store under trailer, sweep out the little particles, and then lay down rubber backed rugs. Voila, a clean space to take off clothes, shoes and hang up jackets/coats.

Our Sooner is a 2 horse straight load w/ 10' LQ SE228 We love it!

It was designed with a side ramp for a cart.  We definitely wanted a 2 horse when we were shopping.  The Sooner is 7"6" tall and 8" wide.  The ramp / cart area is the most perfect area for camping gear storage.

We have decided this is the style for us.  Maybe less the ramp next time but definitely 2h St ld with a big mid tack.  You can never have enough space for STUFF.

I don't recall ever seeing a two horse lq with a midtack. That sure would help with storage. I love our midtack. It is full of stuff, including a small deep freezer.

I searched for well over a year for my 2H with 11'SW LQ Elite. Love love love it! I too am 99% of the time just with my one horse & wanted any extra length to be in LQ. I am not worried at all about resale (which was something trailer dealers warned me about) as I have had 3 people already ask if I would sell! I understand the 3H idea and reasoning, but I do think times are changing and if you purchase a quality trailer, or get a "deal"..just buy what YOU want. Good luck!

I do totally so agree with you!

Thanks for sharing!

Where did you find your trailer?  Did you buy it new or used?

I have a 2H LQ and there are 3 others in my trail riding club with them.  I bought mine from another club member before she advertised it and have several people that would love to buy it from me.  while not as common, they are desirable.

We bought the freezer to use out west.We stay for two weeks and there is just not enough room in our freezer that goes with the fridge. On the way out, we have a big inverter in the back of our truck to keep it running and when we get there, running the generator 4 or 5 hours a day keeps the food frozen. I feed an army so I needed the bigger freezer. The first year we went, I did not have it and spent enough on dry ice to pay for one. When we are at home, we just keep the trailer plugged up to keep it running.

If you want a 2 horse, get one... I see so many people with 4 horse trailers and crew-cab duallies, I always wonder why when there are just two people? I think extra people can probably "step up to the plate" and buy their own stuff if they want to ride and camp... I wanted a two horse LQ, my husband wouldn't hear of it... it sure would have taken some length and weight off. Not to mention how much fuel it might save...
