From the looks of it,they were pulling the horse trailer with a small SUV? Probably all driving like bats out of H***.

What a nice looking horse.  Was this from Germany?  Didn't quite look like German but I wasn't sure.  What I was amazed at was the emergency responders.  of course, there are so many things you can't tell from the video, but it looks like they had a vet there and that the police/fire workers were trained in animal rescue.  CRG, I frankly see more people driving big trucks like bats outta H*ll than I do other vehicles, and large trucks are neither readily available nor practical in most European countries (try driving a dually and a LQ down some of the cobbled streets of Amsterdam that were designed for a single horse and cart 200 years ago!).

Probably, but,we don't have the autobaun over here. Then again, most i-states here could give the autobaun a run for the money.

I love horses as much as anybody, but, what about the people? Looks as if the person in the small car was killed.

The trailer looked like a brenderup, maybe? Whatever it was, it looked pretty flimsy on top.. I was relieved to see the owner had put shipping boots on the horse.. I guess I need to start doing that.. You never know when something like this may happen, even if you're just going a short distance... i've heard somewhere that most serious wrecks happen fairly close to home (going to the store, etc)..Poor horse!

Rough translation via Babel fish: A positive example, was fire-brigade and veterinary surgeons for the rescue one with a traffic accident in Olpe/Rhode injured horse does. Hat off before the achievement of all involved ones. The language is German.

Don't know the cause of the accident. If I can find anything I'll surely post it here. As for the person in the small car, I'd say they got them out first. Looks like they took them out through the back door. I'd say whoever it was went for an ambulance ride, but it looks very survivable if the person was wearing their seatbelt and even possibly without, but a whole lot more banged up. You can see their airbag deployed.

I used to tow a small 1978 two horse trailer with a 1991 S10 pu (before they shrunk them) and it was very stable and safe. I kinda miss it cause I got great gas mileage with that rig, 23-24 mpg towing. Sadly, I bought a horse too big for that trailer ;), so now have a bigger truck and trailer. What was I thinking?

Crowley, if you use a translator like Babel Fish, you'll find many comments like yours about small tow vehicle and towing to fast. LOL The translations are rough, but will give you an idea of what they are saying. edited to add, put German to English if you hadn't already thought of that yourselves.

Oh and the woman in the car was fine. I'm thinking the guy towing the trailer didn't see the car and changed lanes into her, but can't tell for sure. Just glad the horse and everyone ended up OK.

No autobahn over here?  You haven't driven in far west Texas then, where the legal speed limit is 80 mph and the big rigs pass you up blowing black smoke like you're sitting still while you're driving the speed limit.
