Subject: leaf spring equalizer

Hello,

I have a 1975 trailer and think it might be a Turnbow, but not sure. It is a two horse straight load with a small dressing room.  I am having a problem with the leaf springs. The back axle leaf spring shackle hits the frame when going over bumps. The shackle is 2 ¾” long. I have installed new leaf springs and have the front down as far as it can go, but it still riding up in the front. The equalizer between the two leaf springs is a straight bar. I am wondering if I could replace it with one on the triangle shaped ones. This would give me around 2” more of lift and stop the shackle from bottoming out.  Would this work? Can I use shorter shackles? I know I can install blocks, but the frame is bent and it would quit a job.  Thanks for any help!!
