I've been offered a continued supply of shavings as horse bedding from a neighbor (he's a wood butcher)

I know that Walnut is extremely bad (causes laminitis)

But what about "Cypress" ?

Does anybody know of any downside to free Cypress shavings?

Don't know about cypress....the best imo are pine, poplar and oak.  I think the cypress is ok but suggest you check with an ag person to be sure....

I know that walnut is bad, and black walnut will kill a horse very quickly.

ROBDNORM    This is your kind of question.  Where are you?
