Tried posting this as a bump to the electric vs hydraulic thread, no joy.
My trailer has dual Bulldog (square tube )landing gear - connected by a crank shaft that runs through the gearboxes across the front, with a single speed gearbox. It's a five-horse GN Trail-Et with 4 ft shortwall. 23 turns to get it up to clear the flatbed is a lot of work.
Is it possible to get the reduction gearbox (dual speed?) for this setup? I have searched and am only coming up with complete replacements - and the legs on mine are welded to the frame of the trailer..... I have no inclination to do that much cutting and grinding!
edited to add - there's plenty of space next to the drivers side leg, and more space outside the frame - I just need to find that reduction gear box. Even better would be TWO, then I could split the shaft and jack them independently on uneven ground!

The only thing you can do with a bulldog single speed jack is replace it with something. I searched all over the net trying to find something for my flatbed and had no luck. Sorry!

Retento, yikes! $570 to stick an electric motor on it... I can buy new 2-speed jacks for $219 apiece. Not at all sure the electric would lift my trailer anyhow - I know how much torque it takes to do it :)
Thanks guys, but it looks like the first response was the closest - gotta cut off the original single speed jacks and replace them with something better.
Or just consider it to be aerobic exercise. ugh.......

I know!! Just throwing it out there, we really like our hydraulic jack. Seen some sort of electric jack on a trailer at a show. The folks were unhooking from a 2003 GMC 2500HD..... I could have hand cranked three trailers up, (and I'm in a wheelchair) in the amount of time it took that electric jack to lift just one. That thing had to have run 90 seconds or more. It was on a steel three horse, 4' short wall, DR trailer. That Hydraulic Equalizer Jack of ours will clear the ball by two inches in about 10 seconds, that's from the point of the jack being all the way up, til the ball is cleared by two inches!!..... You best step back!!!
