Very cool .... slow motion videos of barefoot and shod Ice Ponies...showing the force distribution on the hoof and lower leg. You can clearly see that the barefoot hoof suffers less downward force. http://tinyurl.com/6asmtbThis YouTube member also has a web site with lots of info www.naturhov.dk Huginn's been barefootin' for two years now, I actually discovered that Huginn tolt better barefoot. The few times (3) that I have booted him....he was very rough in tolt. BTW....Scott and Kyle....our natural trimmers are the best!RavenLucy & Molly, the Girl DoggiesHuginn & Dixie Chick, the Back Behind the Barn PoniesMaggie Rose, the cat who makes me sneezeI ride an Ice Pony because heart is not measured in hands.http://www.myspace.com/iceponygoddessRespect ALL Earthlings. While I respect those who choose to go "natural" and barefoot" I personally think that you should either go barefoot or shoe them depending on what is in the best interest of horse...some do need shoe and some don't. Its not a either /or situation. When people start the "my way is the only way" mentaility, they forget every horse is different and the needs of that horse override a philosophy.

God made man in his image- not animals.

I never said it was barefoot or not! I believe a owner needs to do what THEY think is in the best interest of a horse. I just shared the cool videos...take it easy. Go ride your horse.

Garbage science. Dr. Jeff Thomason, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Ontario Veterinary College has proven that shod horses have a slightly lower ( but by his own admission it's negligible) shock value than unshod. Mounted riders, thoroughbreds and standardbreds. The gig is up on that claim.
