I have noticed on this and many other forum-type websites...a edgier set of responses as economics are starting to affect the bottom line of the people...

Tolerance of differences is rapidly lessening!!!

And Sense of humor has vanished in some people...that's assuming they had one in the first place...

Anyone else noticed this behavior?

Yes I have.  I saw a lady pitching a fit because a sign said $8 and at the register rang up $8.10.  She went up to the service desk and demanded her $.10 back.  Granted it was hers to get back, but the way she was acting she wouldn't have been able to eat for the next week if she didn't get it.  All of the gas stations now require payment before filling up.  They won't even allow you to leave your credit card and fill up anymore.  You have to run the card for a set amount and get it approved BEFORE you can get the gas.  That way if the card is stolen/denied you don't get their gas.

yes, absolutely.  Working in a retail store the behavior I mainly get to see is DISHONEST.  We are having many more people LIE and try to get refunds on products and services so that they might get their money back (maybe they don't know that they are ripping off me, not some faceless corporation!).  Not to mention the THEFT!  Guess they figure that if Exxon rips them off, they can rip us off.  Pathetic.

I have notice that drivers are getting more aggressive -like if the light turn green you should move fast or if the light turns red you should run it. I have almost been hit at red lights because the drive think I should go through it. I had one driver go around me at a red light did not even stop to look at the other traffic come

People seem to have gotten crazier. I work at a hospital, and I've seen lots more suicide attempts.  It seems that there are more gunshot wound victims who were innocent bystanders to some idiot who opened fire.   Truthfully, it's the younger folks who seem crazy.  Elder individuals seem to be taking it better, perhaps because they've lived through hard times.  My generation has never known hardship, and I don't think that people know how to cope with it.  Really, we're spoiled.  If you take away all the "fluff" that we consider life (cell phones, PDA's, expensive cars, designer clothes, MP3 players, etc), and look at what we really need, we have it made in the shade.  These economic "tough times" are nothing compared to the depression.   I'm not saying that I don't do my fair share of complaining about high diesel prices, but really life's not that bad yet, but Anti-depressant drug companies must be making a fortune right now...

I beg to differ, I think oldies are being effected too.  I've been cursed at by two different individuals both elderly in the Wal-Mart parking lot in the last two months.  They were rude and went out of their way to tell me what they thought.  Never mind I'm not lighting fast nowadays due to the fact I have a baby.  They were both pissed they had to wait for me to get my items into my trunk and into my car (baby) put the cart up and then finally drive away!

I blame the fact they can hear the clock ticking and their set income is now being devoured by GAS PRICES!

Talking about sense of humor, your post reminded me of the scene in Fried Green Tomatoes when Kathy Bates was waiting for the parking space and the two young chicks pulled in their little VW and told her,"Face it,lady,we're younger, and faster."

And Kathy Bates fab reply: I am older and better insured.

It is tough on us oldies too....low interest rates, high prices equals less money to spend on important stuff, like tack, riding clothes, fushia helmets, boots, comfy socks, cute browbands....
And Tim Russert's passing makes me really think about what is truly important to me, so I kissed my horse this morning....

I think its that most folks have slowed up their travel for nonsence and only one item at the store etc.Its make the stupid rude butts that speed and cut you off just more obvious. In the auto repair business WE always had the ones that went haywire over $8.10 instead of $8.00.Deldt with that at a mall store often.Made anyone quoting anything to add in 10% or more to cover EVERTHING including tax and any small items to keep folks from pulling that at the cashier.Feed store I use has turned off their gas island and stopped buying fertilizer.Kinda a inconveinice.I'm shopping a Harley and prices on them is falling and inventory is backing up.Even on personal bikes their not selling well.Time for me to BUY.Anyone wanting a horse trailer

It is definitely separating the "haves" from the "have nots".  We can still be thankful we are not paying as much taxes and for for fuel as those in the EU countries are.

Pretty sad.  Wife and I were in line at Walgreens to get some Rx filled.  The elderly lady at the window was trying to decide which of her prescriptions to buy, but couldn't afford all of them.

We're doing okay, but tightening our belts where we can, eating out less, driving less...the F350 stays parked unless we're going camping 5 miles away.  We try to combine trips to town and make it once a week instead of on a whim.
