I was called regarding a Wrangler 2006 2 hrse slant, BP, stock.. however it was special order and titled in 2008.. The man who is asking me to come take a look at this says it has a rear tack room and that he fits 3 horses in it..

I believe it is 7' high, 6'8" wide and 14'box..

Please give me a picture or a website to see what a rear tack room is?? I am dumbfounded.. also any ideas on a $$ range for this type of trailer..

Thank you, trip mama

If it was a special order you'd have to get the pictures from him.  No one else will have one like it.  If you just want a general idea go to the trailers for sale page.  Lots there with a rear tack.

This trailer is a 7' tall, 6'8" wide, 2h slant.  This is the collapsible rear tack compartment (make SURE that the rear tack compartment IS collapsible).  I COULD NOT fit 3 horses in this trailer, ponies maybe, but definitely not horses.  NO WAY.  Sorry no pics of the inside, you'll have to take my word for it.

What is the length of your trailer?  My trailer is 7'tall, 6'8"wide and 20'long.  It has a 2ft short wall dressing room and is a 4horse slant.  No rear tack, but there is room for one.

The one I am looking at is 14'

My horses are big.. 16 h & 16h2" ( Andalusian/TB)... I am just more concerned with any feelings of clastrophobia?? Also do your horses back out? Do you have an escape door?

I'm no expert but we have owned 12 horse trailers since 1998.

I've owned several 2H straight load, currntly have a 3H slant load w/out a rear tack.I'd have to personally SEE this man have 3 horses loaded in his  trailer for myself.

I'm not saying it could'nt be done.My question is this: why cram 3 horses in a trailer that was built to haul 2???

Our 3H slant Delta trailer could probably haul 4 with the dividers out, but,I'm not going to try it.I bought what I needed for that,a 4H trailer.

Sounds like this is a moot point for the OP in this case, but I'll answer anyway.  Mine has a 16' overall floor length, and the DR has a 4.5' shortwall.

My 14.2h Arab-x (ie shortbacked) gelding fits comfortably in my 6'8" wide trailer.  But with horses as big as yours are, those wouldn't just be FEELINGS of claustrophobia... they'd really be crammed in there.  Look for a much wider trailer for these guys!

My friend's new horse is probably 15.1h and her trailer is a 6' wide slant-load.  She just discovered that this horse needs to have the dividers open b/c the stall is not long enough for him.  Luckily she discovered the problem before he started completely refusing to get on the trailer.  His reluctance clued her in and now he's perfectly willing to get on as long as she leaves the divider open.

To answer your other questions:

Yes, I have an escape door, but I don't use it for that.  I load my horse alone, so I can't lead him on.  I "send" him on (he rides in the rear stall) and I stay outside to put up the butt bar.  If you're not familiar with the "sending" technique, check out Clinton Anderson's trailer loading videos.

Yes, he backs off.  Some horses find this challenging the first few times, so make sure your horses are great at the back up cue and great about giving to pressure (ie moving their butts away from the wall when they hit it).

Good luck in your trailer search!

does anyone else think this is suspicious besides me. Is this a legitimate person that you have been talking to about this trailer. Seems fishy to me.

I don't see anything fishy.  Sure, I wouldn't put 3 horses in a 2h trailer but that's nothing to be suspicious about.

My last trailer was a three horse, 19' long, 5' shortwall & 9' longwall, and had a rear tack. Behind the dressing room was 14' so if the dressing room has a 0 short wall, there would be plenty of room for three horses.

If the trailer was custom ordered, it may have a normal size front stall with a double size rear stall, but only have one divider. If it isn't far from you, I would at least look at it. It might be worth the money.

FYI...... the angle of the slant changes with the width of the trailer. So, if the trailer is only 6' wide it will need to be longer in the box  than a 7' or 8' wide to accomadate the slant stalls. Because, the angle differs with the width of the trailer.

It is 6'8 wide according to the original post. Same as mine was.
