I tried to search the archives but wasn't very successful w/that.  I have a Sundowner trailer that has the pull-out step attached to two tubes.  I HATE it!  When I camp down dirt roads (or muddy) it gets filthy and I can't pull it out.  So I'd like to purchase a fold-up step that mounts just underneath the Living Qtr. door and releases with the pull of a spring.

What is the best one to buy and easiest to have installed?  Any suggestions would be great.  I see one through Platinum Mfg.

Thanks for you help - I appreciate it

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I guess when I said 'fold-up' step I should of been more clear. I don't want the kind like in the picture that goes underneath the trailer. I want the kind that attaches to the outerwall of your trailer, just underneath the living quarters door. I've seen these, almost like a 1/2 step and you release it with a pin. Does anybody have this style? I know there are several of them out there, I'm just trying to find one that will be the easiest to install/have welded to my trailer.
Thanks again!!!15

Hello! I don't know of an aftermarket one available, but I know our parts mgr. often keeps a couple of different ones from different trailer manufacturers. Feel free to email him Roger@SelectTrailer.com or call 931-685-4040 and he can likely help you find one that shouldn't not be too hard to install. Platinum & Elite weld on, Kiefer's step bolts on.

Check out Cimarron trailers. The fold up step is a standard item. Don't know if you could buy one from mfg.or not, but it may be worth a try if you have someone who can weld aluminum.

Have you seen one of these in person on a Platinum trailer? Because:: we have the pull-out step. Our Platinum trailer had no step at all.We had to use a bench. My cousin bought a Platinum with the fold-out step, and, they are not very wide from front to back. They can be awkward to step and balance on for someone with a bigger than size 5 foot.

I have seen the step and have actually used them before.  I agree that they are shorter from front to back but they are perfect for the person that camps & goes down muddy roads.  My Sundowner has a huge step that is suppose to slide out from underneath the trailer by the living quarter door.  Get mud or dirt on that sucker and there's no way its coming out.  I'm sick of struggling with it so I opted for something that looks nice and is functional.

I thought about the Rubber Maid step ----- but naw!
