Unleaded here is at $3.79. I just filled my tractor with some $2.35 "red" diesel!!! I filled a big tank here on the farm just before it jumped to $2.50..... And that wasn't that long ago. I was afraid at the time that it was going to go to $3.00, HELLO!!

Yes, definitely not hauling as much. The diesel truck has been parked most of the time now. We try and make combined trips to town. Instead of just running out to get one or two things, its has to be at least 3 different stops we need to make. Diesel is never going back down - just up, up, up.

Fortunately, we have found an alternative to hauling! We are relocating to a fabulous new equestrian community near Spencer, TN where we will no longer have to haul to enjoy beautiful trail riding and showing. Its over 6000 private acres, and adjoins one state forest, and is just across the road from a state park. - Both that have trail access for horses! Perfect scenario for us.

Will keep the truck and trailer, short of going to the vet - hopefully we will not have to use it very much!

Well, make sure your farm tank is secure!!!

Or it will be a target of fuel thieves...

I just located new trails by my property where you can ride for a good four hours or more. There's only about a mile of dirt road riding to get to it. Happy, happy!

OK, this is off subject, but I am pretty new here and I know I can do a PM, but don't know how.  So, Paul, I have my Silver, was working on my Gold when my mare went lame (I-1 is the most fun test!).  I have her son in the barn now and she is back in California and bred again.  I also have a horse that I thought (haha) would take her place - that's the one I went to pick up.  She is pretty great but has anxious meltdowns that we are working on.

Region 9 is all spread out and it is hard to get people to want to come here sometimes.  I've heard lots of really negative, blanket comments about "we're in Texas" or "Texas girls" from big dogs from other regions.  Oh well, not much to do about that, but I have always hated being lumped into any catagory.

I got to drive back in storms and then inch along for miles because of a wreck and then got home just in time for more storms.  Now to go clean up everything.  But, I'm glad she's home and REALLY glad that I don't have to drive to a boarding facility every day to see the horses.  I would be condensing my trips by now.

Kate

We've worked out a deal where we just mail our times in and don't have to go to the rodeo's, so we won't be needing the trucks, trailers or diesel anymore. I'd hate to be sitting on a big inventory right now.

I was at the 4 Star dealer in Willis on Tuesday (having a new 30 Amp plug spliced on - oops, it rode on the road the whole way there) and they say that they are selling a lot of trailers.  They sure had a lot in the shop for various things.  I guess I might end up, at some point, with a Toyota and a one horse for emergencies and just stay home, or pay someone to take me places, but not quite yet.  I just got my LQ and I want to play with it some!  And, my trainer thinks my mare is about ready for the big time.

You'll see them dipping tanks around the small livestock auctions here from time to time. I am sure we will start to see more of it.

NC-DMV boys were bound and determined to sample my tank. They wouldn't listen to me when I told them .... I don't burn diesel fuel. Wasn't until he seen the little choked down filler neck and smelled the 87 unleaded was he convinced. I guess my old 496 must be as noisey as a Duramax, LOL! Boy was he P.O.'d with himself. I even got Allison/8.1/496cid placards on the door!!

Bummer about the lameness...

Hopefully YOUR CALMNESS will overcome her anxieties...Possibly, your new horse could end up like Carol Lavell's Gifted...12...Except I hope you don't have to hotwire the inside of the stall like Gifted's was...
