I have a 2000 4star "mill finish" trailer ,and my stud stall door ,and LQ door have alot of small scratches on them,,, they are not that deep. How could I get them off. Could they be buffed out.. They look like someone scrubbed the trailer with a brush that was to hard! Any helps appreciated! Thanks Dan

The only way to get rid of scratches, is to abrade the surface to the depth of the scratch. The surface will then have to be blended in, so that it doesn't look like a series of valleys where the scratches were. Matching the original surface's finish is difficult. A Teflon brush on a drill or grinder can somewhat duplicate a milled finish, after the metal has been ground or sanded to removed the scratches.

You can try knurling the aluminum, by rubbing a smooth steel rod, lubricated with oil, over the area of the scratch. This will not remove any material, instead it will actually move the metal on the high spots into the low spots. This will not completely remove the scratches, but may make their appearance less noticeable.

You have to ask yourself, "Do I really want to remove that much metal to get rid of some scratches?" Realistically, if it is an area where this damage is common, it would not be worth the trouble.

There are some car waxes that have gap filling capabilities. If it were steel, you would have a rusty area; with the aluminum some scars. Consider them a badge of honour. I would just leave them alone.
