Hey ya'll!!!  I'm off to a horse show this weekend, first trip w/ the LQ!!!!  Very Excited.  I'm not totally new to the whole "camping" thing, took the motorhome to AZ this past summer, no problems.  I'm just looking for suggestions of things that you wished you had taken along with you, things that I probably should have that I wouldn't think about having w/ me cause I'm a girl.....things that are nifty and have really come in handy.  I'm going right now to get dog collars to put on the awning as a backup to the little clips that supposedly keep it from coming down while driving...don't really trust that.  Gotta get some fresh water hose, the white hose, I just don't want to forget something really important.  Thanks!!!!

Flashlight, matches, pillows to sleep.(we learned fast after forgetting ours and using saddle pads and clothes) can opener, go through what you are going to eat or cook and what you need to prepare, cook with and season. and clean upPlastic bags for garbage. extension cords. Extra fuses when you over load something. toilet paper!! This is just a start from what we have learned. Most of these items have a good story behind them.

I surfed this forum for that info when we got our "new" LQ and got some really good advice.  Here are a few things that I've really been glad that I had:

Flashlight, changes of clothes, plastic cups, paper towels, toilet paper, lip balm (I found a carry bin at GardenRidge and filled it with stuff I'd want if I were going to use a public shower and put it under the sink),  bottled water, frozen neck wraps to tie around your neck when it's hot, and easily shaken out rugs and a broom.

ENJOY!!

A roll of duct tape - I am not kiddin'  this has come in handy more than once for various reasons. . .

I made a checklist that I use every trip - one for the horses and one for me.  Of course the horses get packed first - LOL.  My husband thinks I am nuts.  Oh well..  . I probably am a little bit.

OH, I nearly forgot.  We didn't have the right adapter when we tried to hook up the first time.  RV places have all sorts of configurations and we now have one of each!  And a heavy duty extension cord.

Baby wipes, so useful for quick cleanups of almost anything anywhere.  A lawn chair for a quick sit down outside, boot jack to pull off boots if need be before going into LQ, trash bags for trash, there is a hose hook up that 90 degrees onto the city water hookup on your LQ, those are handy so there is not a big prying type of bend in the water hose on the side of your rig... in the RV dept of Wally world.  Good luck have fun!  Some Aleve and lip balm are always handy too!

A small rug just inside the door to wipe feet off. A laundry bag for dirties. Alarm clock!!! (Not that I can ever sleep at a horse show, but just in case). Extra bra-there's a story behind this that I don't care to share with the entire world. Just trust me on this one. Suffice it to say I am glad no one was around at the time.

Extra toilet tissue... Take whatever you think you'll need, then double that amount. There will be someone in your ontourage, that will run a little over on their quota!!

use small travel size bottles for shampoos, conditioner, body soap, etc takes up less room

plenty of towels - bath & kitchen

bug spray, reading materials when you find time to sit or lay down to relax, snacks, dish detergent, liquid hand soap, small folding tables to hold beverage of choice when sitting out side under the awing.

www.rvmat.com  - is a great site for buying outside mats for under the awning.  you can get pretty much any size you want as well as a carry bag.

I know all you guys (gals!!!) carry these but no one has mentioned thoes great little black plactic pull ties like you use to keep wires together. You can fix anything from a loose water hose to a pair of jeans that the button came off of. And yes, duct tape, not the cheap stuff either! Lastly and most importantly, Gray Goose and access to ice, it's great for the nevers, doesn't smell and doesn't leave you bloated in tinny jeans!

Oh yeah, rain gear too!

Have fun and good luck!

Lots and lots of big extension cords (ones actually made for RV's) and water hoses. :)

Blankets--never know when its going to get extremely cold.

Flashlights, tool set, lots and lots of wood blocks and boards for leveling, and a good rug for outside the door. We like to put a Snowbird Mat outside of our door, they dry well and hold up forever. If you google them, you can find the dealers.

Also--many mentioned toilet paper, make sure its the RV kind because if you use the other, it could be quite a mess. Also, toilet deodorizer. Normally you can pick up RV supplies at Wal-Mart quite cheap.

Happy Camping!!

Thanks ya'll!!  The first trip went great!!  I had to borrow a spliter thing for the water hookup cause I was sharing with the camper beside me, I need my own tool kit, I had to borrow 2 different screw drivers from 2 different people.....one of these at midnight!!!!  I had to go to walmart to get sewer hose because my little hole in the ground looked to be half full of leaves so I was afraid to dump in there in case it overflowed and I didn't have enough hose to reach the one beside me so I had to get extra.  Other than the fact that both gas tanks seem to be empty....brand new trailer...2 weeks old and both tanks are empty.  Don't know if I have a problem or maybe they switched tanks, I need to fix that.  Didn't have hot water or heat!!!  It was a little chilly one night but thank goodness for the feather comforter!!!!  I need electrical tape and duct tape and I think that's it.  I should have everything.  Can't wait for the next show!!!!!  Thinking about going to the World Show in Ft. Worth in June....BIG trip for a 12 year old and her mom!!!!  We'll see.  Thanks again!!!

Sounds like you did great and had a good time. Does your A/C not have a heat strip?  They at least take the chill out. I keep a small ceramic heater in my trailer. Warms it right up. Good back up when something goes wrong with the propane. Although, you won't need it in June at Ft. Worth!

I bought roper's bags, that they store their ropes in, to store my water hose and the electrical cord that goes from the trailer to the outside plug.  Then I hang the bags in the third stall/storage area.  They stay all neat.

If you just got the trailer the propane tanks may have not been filled.   They weren't on our camper when we bought it new.

I'll second that about the propane on a new trailer. I camped this weekend and was admiring a friend's new trailer when the fridge kept saying 'no LP'. I told him mine did that once or twice after a fresh fill but it turns out he was out of LP. Aparently they didn't fill his tanks very much either.

I like to have lots of those velcro type ties. You can use them for a bunch of stuff and if you need a longer one, they all hook together.  I also find that if you need a hook, the 3M hooks that stick to the wall but will not marr it actually work great.  I use them in the shower to hang a small mesh bag to put all of my soap, conditioner and shampoo in.
