Anyone have any experiance with a bad shore cord (the electrical cord for the trailer)? I found out that mine was faulty, causing shots in the trailer, making the converter not work, the fan in the bathroom not work and the lights in the horse compartment not work. Was wondering, my fridge, AC and heater were on the fritz too, and needed to be replaced. Could a faulty shore cord have anything to do with those other problems? Just curious.

Any short in an electrical system, can cause the improper operation of any device it powers. Most shorts will cause a complete or intermittent fault in the electrical distribution, causing any appliance to start and stop, or stop completely.
The short will usually cause the circuit protection device to trip, rendering the circuit inoperative. With an ac circuit, an over or under voltage problem can cause the failure of motors commonly used in compressors and pumps.
Once your shore power cord is replaced, and the breaker or fuse is reset or replaced, I would try using your electrical devices one at a time. You may find that many will still operate satisfactorily.

Thanks. Well we know that the AC and The Fridge still doesn't work correctly. He is trying to figure out the deal with the AC and just put a new fridge in it. Just wondered if it could have caused damage to make them have to be replace. No biggie.

Your lights, fridge and fan run on a 12v dc circuit that is either powered by the converter or battery. The a/c and fridge run on the 110v ac circuit powered by the shore cord. If the fridge works on battery and propane, it may be the 110V ac feed in the LQ that is bad.
It would be wise to check the voltages and LQ circuits to these appliances. Changing them is a big deal, they are some of the more expensive appliances in your LQ.

Well the fridge was working on propane but had a bad smell to it inside and outside the trailer. Then all of a sudden it quit working on electric. Doesn't work thru the battery at all. The AC hasn't worked for two years, since I changed the thermostat for the heater, as it would never shut off. Ever since then the AC has not work. Very strange this trailer is! LOL!
It is down being fixed with the guy who put all of the stuff in it when it was new. So he knows what he is doing. I was just curious on this..

If your refrigerator had a bad smell and then stopped working, that usually means the refrigerant had leaked and the sealed cooling system has failed. If the unit is older, it is usually economically feasible to swap it out instead of effecting repairs.
It sounds as if your service repair man knows what he's doing and will soon have you back in business.

The fridge was still working on Propane, just smelled terrible. He checked into it, and it would have cost the same to fix as it would to put a new one in, so we went with the new one, which will have a new warranty on it. The trailer is six years old, so same with everything in it.
He does no what he is doing and is fixing it correctly, I just was curious if anyone had any experiance with it affecting the other appliances or what not, making them bad, due to the shore cord being bad.....
