Be careful. The escape door will push the axles to the rear and make it pull like a semi-trailer with 40-50% tongue weight. Saw a Sundowner once like that.

any of the custom trailer places can do this(4star, C&C, Bloomer)because you specify the layout of windows and doors along with other things. My C&C is a 3 horse with 10 foot short wall and did not cost much over $20,000 brand new so I would think they would be within your budget.

Well, I want you to buy my next trailer...

These are pictures of my wife's C&C and she paid more the $20K for a non-LQ 2+1 with dressing room...ignore the labels on the website, they are wrong...

You can avoid this problem by having the escape door only as a 3/4 door. Just add a drop down step for entry. It works great!

I have a friend that has a 2 horse straight load LQ for sale. I think it would be pretty close to your budget. Send me a private email & I will get you more info if you are interested. Thanks.

Shadow makes a 2-H with 1/2 escape door. It keeps the axles in the right place. Shadow is a nice trailer. (my opinion) I currently own a Shadow trailer and I really like it. You can buy one without custom ordering.

I think I saw an escape door in a 2H GN with LQ in a Featherlight. A new
Featherlight will set you back over $30,000 though. Maybe a Merhow too.
I bought a used Kiefer Built 2H GN with LQ (9' shortwall). It has the pass through door from LQ to horse area, but no escape door. The 3 horse had escape doors, but were too big for me with just one horse. Some folks get the 3 horse with escape door, using the first stall for storage.

Ditto on the Shadow.  I have an '03 2H GN with an escape door.  The LQ has propane fridge, cooktop, & hot water heater, 30 gallon water tank, dinette, sink, AC, pocket screen door, awning, storage cabinets, microwave, hydraulic hitch, pass through door, and a cowboy shower.  I haven't measured it but it's either a 5' short wall or 6'. I bought it a year ago from a friend who had bought it new and had the LQ installed.    It pulls fine with my Dodge 2500HD Diesel.

I've got an '03 Silver Star 2H GN with a 3 1/2 ft Dressing room (not living quarters) that has a full size excape door in the first stall.  Love the trailer.  Tows great behind my GMC 1500 Sierra, but Silver Star is out of business.

Would suggest that you re consider on the 2 horse vs the 3 horse;  resale is going to be easier on a 3 and the extra stall is quite helpful for storage.  I have a 3 horse with 8' shortwall lq that pulls just fine with my Dodge 2500.....happy shopping...you might look at Merhow,  Diamond J on this site

Bought a Sundowner Sunlite 720 off of this site ~ 4 foot short wall, 8 foot long wall, full escape door, ramp, lots of extras. Drivers side doors for both dressing room and stalls. Pulls like a dream ~ Love it! I looked at the three horse options as well. Only own one horse and with the price of gas/fuel didn't need the extra weight. As far as resale consider the really nice two horse gooseneck trailers are harder to find, so they sell faster! Sold mine otherone here as well very fast. Bigger is not always better. Good luck!

Don't know where this old thought of 2 horse sells better than three comes from. I have always had 2 horse trailers and never, ever had and issue selling them -Gooseneck and Bumperpull. All sold within 1 week of advertising. I have found it is the condition of the trailer that sells it quickly or not.

Currently have a 15 ft. shortwall Elite 2 horse. As stated on previous posts, even had a trailer just like my current one stolen.

So, each person has a need for X amount of horse slots depending on their preference. For me it was a larger LQ instead of the 3rd horse as we only take two horses with us trail riding.

We only take 2 with us,too, but I  can't imagine putting a bale of hay,a portable grill, muddy boots, extra packages of sodas, ect ect in my interior of my LQ.That's why I like the extra front stall w/escape and walk through door.

I'll admit I think like CRG on this deal.  And it was nice to have the 3rd stall to haul the packmule to CO, at least at home we are able to back up to the barn and set the hay out of the loft onto the hayrack.  When camping we use that front stall as our mudroom etc, and most of the time, we just take 2 horses and use the front stall as extra stuff storage (it does have the walkthru door to the bathroom part of the LQ)  We have friends who have a 4star 2h GN with a weekender pkg, and they have wished for years they had gotten the 3 stall instead, but they haul a lot of stuff and 2 dogs, tooo....

We use three horse trailers to haul two horses. The third stall is for all the extra necessities. Very rarely do we haul a third horse.

Our Exiss has a 4' short wall with a weekender. It's short, (18' box) light weight and very comfortable to use. We searched for quite a while to find this trailer, and are very pleased with its ownership.

We have owned three horse trailers for some time now, and have enjoyed the extra space and utility of the third stall. When we listed our three horse BP, it sold in 4 1/2 hours. There are many people who also want the extra stall, so resale is much easier.
