...besides CCTR? We are looking for something for a 40something on UP type crowd. Not looking for partying, but would like to find a place that offers some activities and meals. I thought someone told me about a place a couple years ago, and now I forgot the name of it. Would like that info again. Thanks!

We went several years ago to Golden Hills Trail Ride in Raymondville, MO. They had fun shows, team penning and guided rides. The food was nice as well as the riding. It was in the same area I think as the CCTR, but west of it I think.

Big Creek Trail Rides. It is Northwest of Eminence. Beautiful trails and fantastic home cooked meals on the organized ride. It is also open during non-scheduled rides. Never had an issue with rowdyness there. Been going there twice a year for 5 years. You can ride to the Current River and to various cabins and springs. A GPS is recommended since the trails are not marked.
Another place that is nice, but no cooked meals is Whispering Pines horse camp. These two camps are near each other and can be ridden to in a days ride.

As organized rides go, those with meals furnished, I don't think you can beat the folks at 4J Big Piney. The food is the best by far. The folks that run it are superb. Beats CCTR, and Golden Hills all to pieces. The trails are much better than Golden Hills. The Golden Hills camp ground is nice, but you have to do a lot of pasture riding to get to the trails, and there are not many trails there.

If you are looking to ride trails near Eminence, the only place that I am aware of that has access to those trails is Coldwater Creek Ranch. Nice place, nice folks. The camp is small, a big group wouldn't work, but if there are only a few of you, it would be fine. No meals, I don't think. www.coldwaterranch.com

Rancho Dos Amigos is just west of Eminence is a new campground. They just opened for business last summer. http://www.rdarockies.com/
The lodge and cabin have been there for a number of years. The campground is new.

Also check out Panther Creek Trail Rides in Ulman, Missouri. They have organized rides on a 4400 acre cattle ranch. Not real close to Eminence. But has the amenities you're looking for.

We finally got out yesterday and headed to Eminence for a day ride. Here's a few pictures of the scenery up there. We started out at Shawnee Creek and rode up to Jerktail and to Grigg's Ford and back to Shawnee Creek for a 5 hour ride. You can get to these trails from Coldwater Ranch also:

Beautiful. Except for that third picture. That one scares me, I don't like high areas with "drop offs". There has to be a nice 'gentle' slope to roll down if I fall.

CRG, Yes, That picture was taken on foot. We were at a beautiful lookout that had a picnic table and some hitchrails for the horses. It is on the Jerktail trail. Last year we rode on the other side of the river on the same trail and there is a section of it that you are just as high and it is right at the edge of a bluff. It was pretty scary and I don't care to ride it again. I'll try to show a picture of that. I only took one as I was too busy watching where we were going.

Yeah,I've ridden some like that, there's an area up at Big Creek that looks this way, also,up at Lake Wappapello above Popular Bluff that reminds me of this. Also the loop trail at Irish Wilderness although I've never ridden on THAT section (don't intend to,either.) But your last picture didn't look like the first one that was scaring Terri, first one was really close to the edge. You have to walk out on foot on the bluffs up at Hunter like this, also, but,it sure is beautiful, especially dogwood time or in the fall, isn't it? Can't be beat.
