We have just purchased a new 3-horse steel slant with an unfinished dressing room.  The dressing room has a 7' longwall against which I wish to install storage cabinets from Lowe's.  This may be a simple task to most of you, but I am tool-challenged and not handy.  I would appreciate someone guiding me through what is probably uncomplicated to most of you.

I *really* hate drilling holes in that steel wall.  Does this have to be done?  I am looking for the cleanest look possible from the exterior.

Or perhaps someone has a suggestion as to where I could take the trailer and have it done by a professional.

If you install 1x3 furring strips on the metal wall joists, the cabinets can then be attached to the strips. It is difficult to directly attach the cabinets directly to the trailer structure because of the spacing and various widths of the cabinets.

If you want to insulate or finish the dressing room, the strips will also aid in that installation.

Get your insulation done 1st.

If you need any wiring, pull it in before you install the cabinets.

I might suggest you put a thin wood panel over the furing strips then attach your cabinets.  It's easier to put one big panel up than cutting lots of small pieces to fit around the cabinets. I'd glue as well as screw the panel in place.

Once you get the wall the way you want it.  Place the cabinets in position and run a screw through from the inside of the cabinets.  Screws should be long enough to pass through the cabinet, panel and most of the furing strip. But not penetrate the outside skin of the trailer.

Forgot to mention, you could simply put in floor to ceiling storage cabinets and secure them to the wall with self tapping screws.  I have seen a few pictures of "do it yourself"  LQ trailers for sale on this website like that.  I think you could use the type that are made for garage storage.
