I bought a used but newer Kiefer Built GN with LQ a month ago and am starting to see some worrisome things about the trailer.  The rubber seal that goes around the window came off the first time I opened the slider window on the butt side.  There are bars on the back slider windows, and when I pulled on one to bring the door closer to me, the bar came off in my hand!  The weld just let go of the aluminum window.  Two of the rivets on the Gn nose are missing.  The top bolt that holds the back door latch on, is totally stripped... it just pulled straight out.  I will have to find a bigger bolt or glue this one in permanently.  I sure hope the LQ is made well.  What a disappointment it would be to buy what I thought was a nice LQ only to have it fall apart over the course of a year or two.  This trailer is only a year old for gods sake.  It had only been used a couple times before I bought it and even still smelled very new.  It looked brand new too.  I thought Kiefer was a well built trailer...  anyone else have these type of problems with their KB?   Does Kiefer stand behind their trailers, even if they're purchased used?

I would call Keifer directly and talk to them. Keifer has an excellent warranty on their trailers, just don't know how they transfer for a different owner. I know when we had a keifer and had some small problems my husband called them and they were helpful.

I am on my 2nd Kiefer Built trailer and can tell you that KB stands behind their trailers.  Both of my KBs have been factory LQs.  Kiefer, and my dealer, has addressed all of my concerns about the trailer I have now and kept me a very satisfied customer.  ALL BRANDS have minor issues that need to be taken care of after the sale!  The difference, between brands, is how quickly and effectively the issues are resolved.  In my experience, Kiefer has stood behind their 3 year hitch-to-bumper warranty with no questions asked!  That kind of service would cause me to buy another Kiefer Built in the future.  By the way, my dealer is Select Trailer Co. in Shelbyville, TN.

In regards to your trailer, I do believe that the 3/8 warranty is transferrable.  Check with your nearest KB dealer or try contacting KB direct.  You should be able to get an answer one way or another.  Is your trailer an all-aluminum Genesis model?  The all-aluminum trailers are the ones with the 3/8 warranty, I think.  I have only owned Genesis models.

Kiefer Built trailers are very well built trailers that I would say rank at the top of the middle level trailers.  They are not in the same class as the Bloomer, 4-Star, Elite trailers.  But with the best warranty in the business, they will stay at the top of my list.  Good Luck!

The bars on the windows is a problem they have had, but they have fixed it on the '08 models. What model is the trailer and what year? It more than likely is still under warranty and you could contact Kiefer and they could point you in the direction of your nearest dealer. Kiefer is very good about standing behind their trailers and they have the best warranty in the business. Don't worry it sounds like you're just experiencing minor problems that while they are annoying, but they are easy fixes.

It's a 2006 Kiefer Built 2 H GN XLA LQ - Eagle model... I bought it off this website. It's listed in the sold category. I will contact KB and see what they have to say. I will also look to see where the trailer was originally purchased and see if they can be of help. Problem is I am near Seattle, and I think the dealer is in central Oregon somewhere.

You may also get on www.kieferbuiltinc.com and go to the dealer locator to find a dealer closer to you.

Contact Kiefer Built about whether it is covered under warranty just have your VIN for them. If it is they could send you the parts the problems you're having are pretty simple fixes.

Yes, that's it. I like the trailer and can't wait for spring when the endurance ride season starts. It'll be my first time sleeping in a LQ with a furnace - that's a big deal! I am just a little concerned with some of the little things going wrong, like the window bar snapping off in my hand - good grief that was a bit alarming.

I am very happy to report that Kiefer called me back and has arranged to have the problems with the trailer fixed at a dealer in the area, all costs paid for. Initially I didn't hear back which had me a little worried but they did come through for me. Everything I have read about their customer service turns out to be true! Yeah!!

Glad it sounds like things are working out.

We've had a 4HLQ for a number of years and have been happy with it.  It hasn't been perfect, but for the couple of things that needed fixing, Kiefer and our dealer, Goodrich Trailers have stood behind it OVER 100% - going the extra mile.

Best,

LAXPatrick

Is that a new 6' shortwall. I purchased one at the Equine Affaire in Mass in November and am waiting for delivery. Told that it would be sometime around February 2008.  It is basicly being custom built.
