That link pertains to the Lakota BP's. I had looked at them and read all the controversy on them. That's why I am now trying to get some info on the Logan. Thanks tho.

Youre welcome.
Same principal, no matter the manufacturer. Bad idea if were talking about using a pickup to pull it............JMO. There was a thread even farther back about yet another brand of trailer where they had taken the front stall in a 3H and made a larger dressing room.........same problems. Save yourself a headache.

Going to look at it on Wed. and then will ask about towing it. I know there has been a lot of discussion about the bumper pull LQ's.
I went and read the entire thread that Jubilee posted about her Lakota HUT.
This is an instance where people were saying "You got enough truck, blah blah blah" ... but there is more than just enough truck, etc.
The hitch has to be rated for the towed weight. My F150 is rated to tow anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 pounds. That's simply frame, engine, and tranny power so to speak.
The factory-installed hitch at the back of the truck is not rated that high UNLESS I use a weight carrying hitch (WDH). An F250, with the same engine and tranny that I have, has the same ratings as my F150 and the same hitch limitations. Those are stamped directly on the back bumper. The steel piece that slides INTO the hitch, that holds the ball, also has limitations to it.
So, when I had the F150 and wanted a bigger trailer than my existing one, I had the option of spending $400 or so on a WDH and modifying the A-frame on a BP trailer to accommodate the WDH hardware and then figuring out all the link adjustments to use it for different weights, or spending $600 on a GN hitch. Hmmm.... Yup. I went with the $600 gooseneck hitch. Less complicated and less work for the truck for the amount of allowable towed weight.
If the receiver AND the hitch don't match the load, then you will need WDH to balance the rig.
LQ BPs ... I have seen a few DIY conversions that worked okay. I don't see the purpose behind them unless you have a cap or camper on the pickup truck that will be big enough to pull them. If you have a camper on the PU truck, why bother with LQ?
A Sleeping area in a BP with room for a small cabinet added to the front of a 2H or 3H? Sure. But once you start with kitchen, bathroom, tanks, pumps, A/C, furnaces, etc. that's too much weight.
When I looked at the link to the trailer (in Loveland, CO) i noticed that the A-frame DOES have the blocks for WDH.
I wonder why it only has 1 butt window in the horse area though? looks cozy.
I wonder why it's for sale by private owner... hmmm....

Well.... went to look at it today. She is selling because she doesn't want the payment and has friends who will haul her horse if she needs it ( the gooseneck behind) It is clean, taken care of and she will throw in the wdh. Weight 3960 8000. It would be nice to take to areas where a gooseneck LQ is too big. Decisions......

Question, did you hook the trailer up completely and tow it for some distance? Remember you need to feel comfortable towing the trailer. What documentation does this person have as to repairs and up keep? Better knowing going to the deal instead of later.
