I've seen a lot of used Kiefer Built trailers being advertised but I don't know much about them. I'd probably be getting a 3 horse slant gooseneck. Anyone have any thoughts on them?

Their Genesis and Evolution models are very nice and have a 3 yr hitch to bumper warranty and an 8 yr structural warranty on the new models. They obviously have a lot of confidence in their trailer if they are going to put a warranty like that on them. They are middle of the road price wise and top of the line warranty wise which makes them a good trailer to at least look into.

Stay away from the 200-2001 models. I used to own a 2000 genesis. The doors became a problem when the aluminum started popping holes in it. I called Kiefer about it and they said that was the time they were putting the new treated plywood in the doors. Right away I new the aluminum was being eaten away from the inside. I was told that they have a lawsuit against the lumber supplier, but do to the age I was not covered by any warranty. If I brought the trailer to their factory (only 80 mle away) they would replace the two back doors which were the worst, for $1,100, labor and hardware included. Not to bad I thought, except the escape door and camper door would need replacing too. So we decided to trade. Otherwise I was very impressed with the KBs'. Even considered another when we traded, but just couldn't make the right deal.

yeah on the 2000-2001 models they used doors manufactured by another company and had a lot of problems out of them. They did have a time after the lawsuit where the company who built the doors was replacing them (or so I've heard) at no cost. They then began building their doors in house and did away with those doors and that problem. So if looking at a trailer those model years inspect the doors get the VIN and call Kiefer and check to see if those doors have been replaced or if they are the doors with the problem.
