I'm going to the well again.....I need help.

This winter will be the first time I will be storing my trailers outside in the elements. I need covers. I went to the Beverly Bay web site and saw the various covers they listed in stock and custom sizes.

What concerns me is the equippment on the roofs of lq trailers; ie a/c unit, various vents, hay racks and ladders, tv antennas etc.

How do the covers fit these accessories? Do they simply lay over the top or are they fabricated to fit each component? The company wasn't available for questions over the weekend, so I thought I would go the the source and the people who really know- you guys.

I've read where owners have used tarps with good and bad results. What do you do? What would you do if you lived in the north east?

     We haven't used a cover on the horse trailer, but we have one for our 5th wheel.  It covers all the vents and things fine.  You just have to be very careful not to hook/tear the cover on things.  The biggest problem I had was the wind and static electricity.  Out here in the desert static shock is bad and dragging that cover over the camper......  I was getting shocked through my shoes!!  Over in the NE it's not as dry so hopefully not as bad. 

     I have decided that the price of a garage is more than worth the trouble of a cover so as soon as we can manage we are going to build a garage for the camper and horse trailer.

No tarps...

Why no tarps? Around here a majoriety of rv owners use tarps on some expensive equippment. Previous posts in HTW have resulted in pros and cons with most cons being a wind failure of the tarp.

No answers yet on fitting the accessories with a custom cover. I get the catalog of the structures you mentioned; space limitations and sizing requirements for two trailers shoot a permanent building down.

In Vermont, The guys with RVs either go the building route or they seem to just cover the tires...

I believe it has to do with our high moisture activity, tarps trap the moisture on the vehicles and lead to more problems than no tarps...

Hey Rich, thanks for your insite of Bevery Bay covers. I got their name from some threads on this forum. Don't know of there are other brands that are better or not.

I live in a snow belt and am familiar with the damage the winters can do to anything left outside. I was told tarps won't work because they trap moisture. My trailer lives in a moist situation year round. That is tame compared to freezing rain, snow and ice.

Both of my trailers have never been outside in the winter, and I don't want to damage them. I am considering a/c covers and a tarp this year, maybe some high tech roof coatings next year. One will be pickeled for the winter, the other will be used as needed, usually not often.
