I have this new horse, 5 years old. The best guy you could ask for!! Manners, charm, personality to boot!! Will load on Q EXCEPT!! If there is manure in the trailer.

I always clean my trailer out when I get home, but if we go somewhere to do a day ride when it is time to come home he won't load for ANYTHING until we get ALL the manure out of the trailer!!

Isn't that crazy!!

Horses, like people, all have their little quirks.  On a recent camping trip, my hubby's horse refused to poop in his stall.  We had to take him out and walk him like a dog!!  It became the joke of the campground.  Then again, it made for easy cleaning when we left.

I've known many geldings that won't pee unless they are on shavings. 

I had a mare once that would only poop in one corner of her stall in a small manure bucket, pee'd there too.  Talk about easy stall cleaning!

WISH I could train my guys to do that!!! 

My silly ex-racehorse (who is temporarily living in my backyard right now) only likes to pee in certain places.  I have about 5 large brown spots in my yard.  I've watched him grazing and then stop and walk all the way over to a "spot" and pee then go back to where he was grazing.

My daughters gelding does that.  He has one spot to pee and poo and that's it.  I put the wheel barrow over there to see if he would go directly in that (and save me some work) and he knocked it out of his way.  The two that are penned with him are starting to pick up this habbit and it is making their area so much quicker to clean. 

The gelding I sold when I left Tx. had 10 acres but would come up to the yard and poop over the fence.  Made the dogs happy.

  That's one way to dispose of manure.... No, I guess that's just recycling....

I had a gelding who would walk into his stall in the evening for feeding, take a bite of grain, circle the stall once then stretch out to pee.  I kept a bucket by the stall door and could catch it every time.  Saved a bit on cleaning up shavings.

My current QH gelding stops off at the manure pit on his way to the barn and leaves a deposit before entering his stall each evening.  One of the neighborhood kids asked me how I litter trained my horse.  He is also the type that builds a castle in the corner when confined.

My geldings also enjoy peeing on straw or sawdust rather than the hard ground. Must be the splash factor. Now they are outside all day/night and must find a suitable place to do their business which is just about anywhere they can. I like a tidy horse.

I used to have an awesome barn cat, she'd jump down into the hay bunk, crawl up my show geldings hood and sleep on his back.  In the summer she'd sit on his dutch door and swat bugs off his eyes while he slept.  I never had mice or birds in the barn thanks to the cat!
