For those of you who love to watch the prettiest horses in the world compete, arabhorse.com is offering a free live video feed from US nationals. The quality is so-so but seems to be improving. But hey its free. There is nothing prettier than an arabian under any saddle, period.

ENJOY!

Obviously you haven't seen an American Saddlebred show for they are the most elegant and intelligent high energey show horses and are also very people oriented and willing to please, not to mention more versitile than the arabian plus they are American made! William Shatner can't be wrong. They even use the Saddlebred to improve the arab, it's called the National Showhorse, but I still prefer the full ASB breeding. I use mine for trail, speed, and Police work.

Hey, whinney, I think you got the cart before the horse. Wouldn't be any saddlebreds if it weren't for the arabs to begin with. Heck, even the AQHA museum in Amarillo admits to arab blood being in the qh's bloodlines. Now that's got to really hurt!!!!

Yes Saddlebreds are terrific BUT they ain't pretty. The SB/arabian cross is very popular but so is the arabian/dhh or arabian hackney. I prefer the purebred though.

As for versitle, arabians are shown in very catagory possible including working cow, cutting and reining. Dressage, jumping, cross country,racing,driving.....and of course endurance. Pretty much anything you want to do. The live feed is a great way to showcase US nationals for those of us who can't make the trip to New Mexico. Almost as good as being there.............

I  am heading to the U.S. Arabian Horse Nationals next week.  It is one of the most wonderful breed championships I've been to.  This will be the last time the show is held in Albuquerque, N.M.  It moves to Tulsa, OK beginning in 2008.

If any of you find yourself traveling through that way, stop and take in some classes.  It is sure to be a great event!

we just bought a straight egyptian mare at auction last night for $185.50, family was losing their home and had to sell their horses ASAP.   This mare is well worth at least 4k...I was shocked.  They had their home foreclosed and had less than week to sell the horses.  Nothing wrong with this mare, been there, done that, gorgeous conformation...just hard times for the family and Michigans economy sux!

I just love all horses; there was a time when I couldn't stand arabs- now I own 7  of them, including a stallion- hes a lot of fun! I have never been to the Nationals, or Scottsdale- would LOVE to go to either one day! I can't help but ask; how can someone say arabs are not versitile?-they are the most versitile breed I've ever seen!

Going nationals was big for me as an exhibitor but even better was seeing the quality of those horses plus how incredible calm and relaxed those Park horses are when not asked to park trot. They have a job and know when to do it. I am not pleased with the general direction of the arabian halter horse.

Scottsdale would be my next to go place. Maybe this winter I can ge away for a few days..................sigh.........

Farmbabe - thank you for posting the link.  I had a great time watching classes yesterday.  I cannot wait to get there on Wednesday.

I have had Arabians since I fell in love with a foal in 1981.  I have have had the opportunity to show at Nationals and I have had the thrill of going top ten - nothing beats it.  I hope someday to get back there as an exhibitor again.  In the mean time, just attending and watching all those amazing athletes is a treat.  There are so many wonderful classes to watch and so much shopping to do........

Top ten? In what and when? How exciting! I managed a pretty pink ribbon last year  but didn't go top ten. Funny, when I got the pink ribbon, I was completely happy. But after not getting a TT, it suddenly didn't seem that great! But now, i know there are so many folks who walk away from nationals with nothing at all that I treasure that ribbon. I'll try again...............

just watched a HA CEP cut- very deep classes........

All four of my appys have arab in them from way back.  I can trace them back to the Darley and Godolphin Arabians.  When I was a kid I had several books on them and they were my favorite "make believe" horses.  I had no idea they were fictional stories about real animals.

But the biggest fictional story ever touted as "based on a true story" was about a mustang who accomplished all kinds of first to finish in endurance.  Hidalgo.  Haw-haw-haw, what a load of ______ !
