Does anybody know how to make long lasting horse treats. I just got these balls, I think that they were called "uncles Jims balls", but the things were $25 for one and with 4 horses plus tax, is an exspensive way to keep the horses' ocupied in the coming winter months. Anyway my thing is, these balls looked like sweet feed rolled in to a ball. Does any one make there own treats/toys

We used to take a gallon milk jug, poke a few holes in it, and add some grain. Hung it over the feed bowl and the horses would knock it about and sometimes get a few morsels. However you have to watch and make sure he doesn't eat the jug.....
