I currently have a Sundowner Trailer and the pullout step for the living quarters slides underneath the trailer.  When I go down muddy roads in to camps the step & pullout tubing (underneath trailer) get full of mud/dirt and I can barely pull the thing out.  The last time I got it out it was so full of mud I couldn't use it.  I seem to be using my portable tack box more than the step.  So...I'm looking for a different type of step to have mounted on my trailer.  A friend of mine has a Stidham trailer and her step is more narrow than mine and drops down from the side of the trailer by releasing a pin.

Can anyone recommend a good step that doesn't go underneath the trailer and where I can purchase it from.  Thank You!!!!!

Check with trailer dealers that offer the flip down steps. I had my pull out step changed to a flip down after I caught it on a rail road track. My local Cimarron dealer replaced it for me. I think you can order one from Camping World if your handy.

I think Platinum offers a flip down step too.

After having a pull-out step break under the weight of a large friend, we went with something completely different.  We use a concrete planter box...the kind folks use to plant flowers in and place on the patio.  Turned it upside down and it made the perfect step into the trailer.  When we pack up, it sits just inside the door on a throw rug.  We love it.  I'll never have another pull-out or flip down step.

RIDE ON!

I think we may have bent our step's framework when we turned off the highway (it is banked up on that side) and drug it on the gravel road.We can't pull the thing out now.!!!

Ditto the message about www.coolhorse.com Iordered the flip down step and it works & looks great, now worries about attaching underneath because it welds onto the side. Well worth every penny!

Thanks so much.  I'll be ordering one this week.
