I would like to plan a camping trip in January and/or February.  Where would you go if you were camping at that time of year?  The trip would be about a week long or could be 2 weeks depending on where we end up.

Thanks in advance!

Well, seeing that you are riding in the winter months, I would stay south where you are.  Several years ago a group of us came down to FL to camp around Pensacola.  I want to say it was a place named Blackwater Forest (not sure... it has been over 10 years ago).  The place was nothing but pine trees and sand however.  If you head much more north, be ready for some cool weather.

I live just outside of Pensacola and camp at Blackwater State Forest all the time. It's a very nice facility however there isn't much to look at, for sure, compared to some of the lovely places I've seen you guys post about. I've also been to Music Park at Suwanee and enjoyed that too although their trails aren't very long. There are some nice looking places in Georgia where I hope to camp soon. I've heard a lot of good things about Hard Labor Creek. Shouldn't be too cold up there. Have fun!!

Cherokee trail ride in Alabama has some good riding.  I would call and ask them what kind of weather to expect that time of year.

RIDE ON!

Thanks very much!

I have to add that I don't mind cold....I live in hot, hot Florida! After the summers I could actually go for some cold. Keep those suggestions coming! This is a really great forum and I'm glad I joined it as everyone is very helpful.

I live in Pensacola and go to Blackwater State Forest almost every other weekend, matter of fact I am headed out Thursday for a long weekend up there. I use to think that there wasn't much to look at but one day a friend of mine that was suppose to ride with me, backed out and I ended up riding alone. It is amazing the things that I had missed seeing when I had a companion along. I am not saying that it is better than some of the scenery you guys have posted but it is nice. Another tradition my friends and I have started is going to a local opry house when we camp up there. Its a short drive away and is worth every minute of it. They feed you until you almost pop and then put on a Country music show that is just awesome. Its called the Farmers Opry House.Heres the website if your interested:http://www.farmersopry.com
Here is a website to Blackwater/Coldwater Facilities:

I think Jan/Feb would be a great time to visit Big Bend National Park in Texas. www.nps.gov/bibe
