I am trying to find a basic full size foam mattress for my trailer. I do not want the pricey memory foam. I have called all of the local furniture stores and a few major ones in the city. No one carries these nor can they order one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Dean, I am hoping to stay around a 4-5 inch height.. sure makes crawling up in the gooseneck alot easier. The boot box that came with my trailer is really neat..but not quite tall enough to boost me up over a regular mattress without a struggle. The mattress that came with the trailer was plush and it really took up alot of head room too.

Comfy and not tall is exactly what I am looking for. I will check out a futon mattress. I like your trailer decor! The cowhide/spur rack is very creative. :-)

you might want to look at www.overstock.com I've gotten a lot of bedding stuff from them including a 4" memory foam topper. If you can find what you are looking for there, their prices are usually quite good.

Dean, No problem. This issue is something that had not crossed my mind at all, until I purchased a larger trailer that came with a regular bed mattress in the gooseneck. My previous trailer had a thinner foam version and was so much easier to climb over. :-)

We got ours from a drapery and fabric store. Check some of them out. Sometimes they carry the foam mattress. They are not covered but you just put your regular sheets on them. Still pricey but not like the ones from the furniture stores. We called them and they were lots higher than the frabric and drapery outlet.

badweather.. Thanks! I called a local upholstry shop and she mentioned it would be less expensive to buy a mattress..thus began my search for an actual foam mattress. (I had one in a previous LQ.. seems like most professionally installed units come with one)..so I can't understand why they are so difficult to find.

Another alternative to a traditional mattress or a foam mattress is a Hide-a-bed or pull out sofa mattress. I used to pull the mattress out of my family room sofa when I camped, but recently a friend was getting rid of a sofa bed and the mattress was still brand new. I know they can be purchased from the mattress chain stores for about $200.00, and they are about 4" thick and built like a traditional mattress.

I went through ebay a few years back when I needed foam for seat and back cushion for a home-made sleeper sofa for my trailer (at the time).....about 1/3 the cost (with shipping) as what I could buy the same thing at any store around here. (I looked!). Good luck.

I can't believe you cant find a local matress shop that wont cut a foam mattres for you. We purchased custom sized foam mattress for my homemade LQ bunk beds a couple of years ago. The mattress shop cut them to size and installed a cloth cover. I'll try to see if this shop is still in business ...I recall it was a national chain.
