What size round pen do you have and is it portable or not? I have the small 30 ft and looking to purchase a 60ft.  Boy have they gotten expensive...

I can't remember what mine cost, but it's 70ft diameter. I wanted to be able to canter easily on my big guy, but it's a little big for ground work. 60ft diameter is probably more versatile.

60 foot and I can easily lope/canter my 17HH monsters in it.  I can also easily work from the ground and not run a marathon.

I got mine from a guy near Durant that makes the panels (portable), he even delivered for free and does custom work for the inside of our lean-to so the horses couldn't lean on the sheet metal.

We have a 60' which is works well for starting youngsters and warming up. Use it mostly for warming a horse up, before going into the arena.

Have you seen the roof system from www.carouselbuildings.com ? You can cover your round pen no matter what size you choose.

The carousel buildings top sure looks NICE, and I sure would love to put a roof over our roundpen, but unfortunately I don't have the $$ for that.

BTW - our roundpen is a home-made job, rigid fence panels (16' x 5') attached to peeler cores every 8 feet (peeler cores sunk in a good 2' of cement). For added strength, top & bottom of fence panels are encased in 2x4's, with a third 2x4 mounted about 8' above top of fence panel sections to discourage our tall gal from even thinking about jumping out. Still would love to have a good MD round pen someday, but this one works well for us for now and cost a lot less.

Crittergal do you have any pictures. I would really like one that doesn't cost an arm and leg. I have been looking at Edgar's pens. anyone have one?
