I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A USED TRAILER AND WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHAT COLOR IT WAS ORIGINALLY, WHAT YEAR IT WAS MADE ETC.....I HAVE NO TITLE AND DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START....

Good questions.  The original color might still be visible under the hitch, the trailers or some other obscure place like inside a light lens cap.

OEM plates are usually inside the tack door or on the hitch.

thanks... i'll go look now.....i have the serial #....if i can come up with the correct # do you have any idea where i can trace it back to the factory spec's..... it did have a title at one time....

I would be very concerned with not having a title,  the factory cannot just give a title out, if you can find the last owner and have them fill out a lost title application you may beable to get a new title issued in your name, that's if they had transfered it into their name, if not it may be very difficult to ever get a title.  If you ever try and trade it in no dealer will be able to take it.  Good Luck!

Regarding a title, it may depend on what state you are in. In Maine, I have bought, sold and registered  older trailers without a title. The only time I ever  needed to have one is when I financed a new one through my credit union,  and they wanted to hold the title until it was paid off.

Even if a dealer wouldn't want it, you can always sell it privately. But it might be worthwhile checking with your state regulations.
