The gal who owns my barn bred her palamino mare (a paint that looks all palamino) to a black bay arab stallion... the colt looked gruella at birth, but may be starting to get a little lighter and actually end up buckskin. That is what they were shooting for. What a cutie he is !!

It will depend on what dominate and recessive genes your mare has and what genes the stud has. If you what to go the highest percentage route, get the genes tested.

Chances are you don't want to go to that expense, and just want to make a reasonable effort to get a buckskin.  Read up on dominate vs recessive genes and dilutions. Look at what the mares gene pool is and her parents dominate genes were. Match those with a stud that compliments here traits.

Here is a good place to start

My buckskin mare threw a Black colt when bred to a cremello stud.

I bred her to Palomino and she threw a buckskin filly.

The above website will give you the odds of getting a buckskin based upon dominate genes in both parents.
