Are rosemary or juniper bushes toxic to horses? We want to plant something along the outside of the horse pen. We are looking at these because they are evergreen and survives in the desert with out a lot of water.

Thanks y'all. I want the rosemary, my husband wanted the juniper. I guess I'll win this time. We wanted roses, but I know my horses will eat those. We had 3 at our last place. The previous owner planted them right against the fence and they grew through it and were always eaten off right up to the chainlink fence, and as far down as the horses could reach over the fence.
The guy at the feed store has a couple of rosemarys that are 5ft tall mounds. Thats what I want.

Many ornamental plants are quite toxic to horses and some can kill a full grown horse with just a few bites! (Japanese Yew) Check with the ag. ext. agent and your vet.
