I'm looking to buy a 2002 Ford F350 7.3L Crew Cab Dually with 77,500 miles on it. I took it for a test drive and drove great. Started to decelerate at about 20m.p.h and heard a clunk noise, any suggestions? I have researched the noise and possibly a loose or broken motor or transmission mount. Any thoughts would be great.

There are several things that could cause a clunk on a decel. If the clunk came from under your feet and was pretty metallic sounding, I would check the front sway bar links. If you feel the clunk is coming from the driveline, I would check the driveshaft u-joints and midship bearing. If the clunk was coming from the front axle area, you might check the ball-joints because the stock ones are not greasable and mine started to wear at about that same mileage. I put 145,000 miles on my 2000 and have 55,000 on my 2005. I replaced one front sway bar link and all four ball joints (only 1 was really bad) on the 2000 at about 80,000 miles. I've never heard of an engine or transmission mount problem in a Super Duty.
