Last year we had so many hoof problems...yep tried Horseshoers Secret...still cracked and brittle!
We started using BioStride from Formula 707 back in December and our mare's hooves have never looked better and been more sound! We run barrels barefoot and are really pleased with the results.
Last two weekend in Indian Rodeo...Sells, AZ and Sacaton, AZ she ran consistent low 17's and finished 2nd and 1rst out 40+ barrel racers...
We also are using the Joint Essentials which seems to keep her motion fluid...

My horses fluidity (for lack of a better term) is much better...bend...a better term...I was hit in Korea by a semi back in 89 and was body bagged and shipped home...19 broken bones and my left side was shot...what do I owe my recovery to...glucosamine chondrotin and shark cartalidge...yep, I thought it was stupid but when the joint in my wrist and elbow would not move...I tried it...Swanson vitamins and PT = I walk and ride! So, I am a firm believer in glucosamine. Now, I was really turned off by the horseshoer's secret because it had little to no affect on my horses hooves...but I am here to tell you the biostride has made a difference. I was super skeptical and hated forking out the $100.00 for the two buckets of "horse vitamins"...it works on my horse.

Just because it is approved for humans doesn't mean it is approved horses. And since these products called "supplements with implied health benefits" has no regulation, either thur the feed or drug industry. This means there has been no effective levels for horses established for these products. So how much is to much? or How much is not enough?

One mans junk ....is another mans treasure... what works for one may not work for all.. Live and let live..
I beleive there must be something to this glucosemine, if it didn't help than why are people buying it up? If it works for humans why wouldn't it work for horses.
Hey freightdog, I too was hit by an eighteen wheeler. but here in the states. The paramedics said I would never make it to the hospital so before I even arrived the trauma team was called off. Much to their surprize I arrived alive but was told I would never walk again... guess what..I walk I ride and I've had 2 children since then. The only thing I can't do is run,but who wants to do that? HA HA!! Other peoples opinions are just that!! Opinions!!
If this product works for you then go with it!!

Yes!!! It was a fight .. a fight that sometimes I wasn't sure I was gonna win, but I have to say I am a better person for it. I appreciate life and the things life brings my way a lot more now. Just the plesure of walking to the barn to feed the horses is so sweet now. (Even if it's pouring down rain) Have a great day... I am!!

I don't have a problem with chondrointin sulfate, glocosamine, or msm. what i don't care for the unanswered questions about these supplements, one being the way they are labeled. The U of Maryland tested 27 of these products and a number of them didn't contain the amount of product listed on the label, and the amount varied from month to month. To bad U.M. didn't release the product brands used in this study.

My Walkers used to lose shoes a lot also.Different farrier fixed that issue.Shoe placement was the key and by a farrier that said " whoever been shoing these horses has no clue to placement" and asked "you been losing a lot of shoes?" My idea of a supplement is ADM's Moorman's minerals Gro Strong fed free choice to horses in pasture and added to daily ration to stalled horses.

With Princess winning and shoeless we have gone the route of strong hooves with supplements but yep, one of our other mares had a similar occurence but was getting what the (new) farrier termed a "hotnail" because it was tooo close to the nerve...new farrier fixed that! Our old farrier said the new one was full of it...but the mare is keeping her shoes on so the proof is in the pudding.

Farrier I use is a semi pro team roper and catches wayward cattle/bulls for folkes around here.Best darn farrier I have EVER used.Picky picky about shoe placement and fit.Says rope horses with improper fit will snatch shoes off in no time flat.Cuts And bevels the shoe heels and looks/shapes and hammers.Reliable, better priced then most of these youguns just out of farrier school.Handles brood mares, weanlings better then any one I've ever used and dosen't charge to rasp my weanies. He's quiet and like clock work.He kept admiring my Driftwood/Freckles horse and inguired about breeding.I quoted him and he brought me two nice rope horse/working horse bred mares. When he called to come pick them up he said "What do I need to bring" cash or check? I said check is fine AND 6 bags of feed, same brand you use.He brought six bags of feed and I said THANKS lets get them mares loaded. He said WHAT.I said you heard me.Colts born two years ago and they are built/roans and lookers. He's been the BEST advertising I could have ever done around here about my stud and I have no worrys about him taking care of my horses.

I know the supplements work but if you want to keep you horses hooves from cracking I do something that works very well for me and my farrier has told all his customers about it. About every other day I put pine tar and baby oil on them. Don't do it every day makes them to soft. Get some pine tar and some baby oil and mix it so you can brush it on. Formula will vary summer and winter summer more pine tar winter more baby oil. Brush it on the hair above the coronet band and on hoof. When I get lax in doing it my farrier fusses at me. Works for me and its cheap! it will keep them soft and pliable
