Looking at a new Bison Trailer with a 12 ft. slide.  I have had a 4star for 14 years and love it.  Can anyone tell me about the Bison vs the 4 star?  Need more space (and Money! haha) Grandkids are starting to show on Grandmas dime.

this subject comes up alot here so try doing a search for Bison. IMO- you'll probably get a better trailer overall with 4-star but Bison is a good trailer for the money. You just can't expect the same level of quality from a 20K trailer as a 40K trailer.

In my opinion there is no comparison between the two with regards to frame and workmanship.  In most cases, the four star will have a LQ installed by another company. In most cases, there could be several different ones in a four star.  So, it is hard to compare how the LQ will compare.  However, without a good structure and frame, your LQ has no value in my opinion.  You will want to search the old posts on Bison to get more info.

PULL UP MY SOAP BOX PLEASE!  Here I go again . . .  I have a 2005 Bison 8312.  Meaning, 8ft wide, 3 horse slant, 12ft. short wall, LQ.  Could I be happier? NO.  Did I still have $ left over after the sale? YES!  Will this trailer last my lifetime? YES!  Have I had issues? YES!  Were they addressed and handled by my dealer AND Bison!  YOU BET!

Bison, is a contender to be reckoned with in the Horse Trailer Manufacturing World.  They are owned by Monoco Coach, the #1 motor Coach manufacturer in the world.  What that means, is that Bison quality, matches that of Monoco Motor Coach.  Their LQ's are made at the Bison plant, not shipped off to a different outfitter.  Because they are part of the "Monoco World", that makes their buying power stronger, which means bigger savings for the consumer.  Bison also covers the warranty of the trailer, so they really want the trailers to go out the door "RIGHT"!.  There is NOTHING in other living quarters, that are not in my Bison of comparable size.  I do not have a slide, so I can not comment on those.  Hubby and I still love our BAT . . . ( Big, Ass Trailer), and with the savings, we bought the BATMOBILE!!   Read the review on Horsetrailerworld.com

the trailer that I saw was "special sale priced" at about $65,000.  It has a 12 ft. slide, but the living quarters was 16 or 17 ft. I think.

I have a Bison 3-horse 10"lq with slide-out. We do a lot of camping all over the country and have found our Bison to be comfortable and reliable. This is our 2nd one, and I would recommend it.

I have never owned a 4 Star and can't compare, but our Bison has been great.

Bisons seem to be more economical.  I looked hard at the 4 stars and was very impressed- esp. the WERM flooring- they are very solid trailers.  In the end just too expensive and the stalls too short for my horses (slant).  Ended up with a Logan Coach which frankly I've found to be built very well too- love the plank alum. floor that drains.  You get what you pay for!  Good luck!

I own a Bison 8310 Stratus with a 6 ft. slide. I have been very pleased with this trailer. Had a few problems and they all were corrected by Dixie Horse and Mule or the Bison company.  They even allow me to take it to a local rv repair shop, and they pay the bill.  Keeps me from having to haul a long way back to the dealer.  Good sales service and a good product.
