We hit high 50's today, but it was pretty over cast and had a few very light showers. They are telling us we will need the snow shoes Saturday and will be lucky to hit 32 on Monday for the high.

Here it was in the high 50's and suppose to be 60's over the weekend. Poor horses don't know if they want to grow hair or shave it off....But I'm liking it!!!

cindydj, just remember last week it was down in the teens, or at least here it was. Where are you located? I hated it when it is hot, hot one day and freezing the next. Good ole Texas weather.

Up here in NW Wisconsin/ St Paul MN we have 45 degrees today. We haven't had even an inch of snow this year. I love it but bad for our world with global warming. Our last 5 years have been so mild it is scarey!

Yeehaw. I just got home from a nice long trail ride with a couple friends. What a perfect day for a ride! Even got went through the creeks about belly deep. Sunny skies and temps in the low to mid 70's. I am in Florida but NW Florida does usually get quite cold this time of year so we're taking full advantage of it

The weather is pretty screwey here too. There were a few days last week where the night time low was 29 and then it hit 70 during the day. It was 37 last night and is 74 right now. My filly has lots of hair but the others are still fairly slick. Of course we just moved from S. Tx so that may have something to do with the older horses skimpy winter coat.

Longears,
I see you are from Grapeland. I am sure you ride at Davy Crockett often. How about Fairchild Park between Palestine & Rusk? We have been riding there quite a bit but they will not let you camp. Recently found a place just south of Bullard called Tarrant Ranch where you can spend the night. Has over 2,000 acres - we go to Fairchild and ride there one day then go to Tarrant and spend the night and ride there the next day. The fall colors were really pretty down there this year.

Butch, sad to say I live so close to Davy Crockett and Fairchild and haven't ridden either one. I have some good county roads I ride on around here and end up going several hundred miles to ride off road, go figure. I keep saying I am going to go to Davy Crockett but never make it. Can't find anyone to ride when I want to. I had just heard about Fairchild last year. I would like to try it. I also heard about the Tarrant Ranch this year. I have just been in this area a few years and the people I ride with don't like to get to far from home, so I go a lot by myself. Bullard is about an hour from me. Maybe I will try it this spring. I don't ride to much around here this time of year anyway because of deer hunters.

going to 80 today and 70 at night - course I'm in South Fla. We camp from Oct - April when the rest of the US is too cold....
But we have that darn equine herpes outbreak going on right now, so everybody is staying home until that is under control.... I keep my horse about 30 miles from Wellington where 4 horses have died already, one being Debbie Stephen's Olympic mount who must have been worth a ton of money.....
