just look it up here or something close and that would give you an idea of the price and let them take it home not with out a down payment and a copy of they drivers licences

deja'vu,

Everyone does things differently but here is my take on the situation.

I would allow anyone to hook the trailer to there tow vehicle and try it for a reasonable drive down the road(4-5 miles) to see that it pulled well and to check the opperation of the brakes, But only with me riding along.

As far as checking the trailer over, they can look all they want in MY driveway, sorry, not theirs! If they wanted to have a mechanic check it over for them then I would try to accomodate them with a time that I could go along for the check. jmho,   Ardly

Could you go with them for the test drive? Why can't they check it out at your place?

That sounds kinda' funky to me.  Are you sure they don't just want to take your trailer to haul a horse somewhere quick & then tell you that they don't like it for some reason?  Maybe I am being paranoid. .. Anyway, I agree with the rest.  They can look it over all they want at your place.  Even test drive it with their own truck - - as long as you're with them--  Be careful.  It would, obviously, make a difference if you really know these people, but these days, if you don't ---be on your guard, --only my opinion.

Ladies & even men,

Would you get in a car with a stranger at the mall and go for a "ride?" Why in the world would you get into a truck with a stranger and leave the safety of your home? I would prefer to follow with a cell phone, etc.

Ditto on the inspections at your house and not theirs. There is really no inspection that can't be done in the driveway, pulling a wheel, check the lights, floor, rust. Almost everything is visual.

I think I would feel safe riding with them if I had someone else at home and told them that we would be right back. I think I would feel wierd saying that I would follow them.

Sorry, but I continually have to remind my teenagers that doing what is right may make them feel weird and self-conscious and may fly in the face of what others think is proper.  I have lived in St. Louis, Tulsa, and Kansas City and only have to look at the papers each night (forget about TV - too depressing) to know that it only takes a minute or the time it takes for someone to look the other way for someone to get killed, kidnapped, raped, etc.  I would never allow my wife or kids to ride down my driveway with a stranger.  They are worth more than the sale of a trailer.  But that is just my opinion.

We had some people that wanted to look at s Sundowner I had for sale. The WHOLE family came, brought their lunch and beer and stayed the whole day.  They FINALLY got around to test driving it- my boyfriend was with them-.  I was already late on a Fri afternoon for a trip to VA>  Then they had nerve to tell me that the trailer was overpriced because of the name-Sundowner.  They knew all that beforehand.

I just got in my car and drove away.

Don't give up on selling it yourself. Someone is coming from out of state to get mine tomorrow. Thanks to this website, I was able to price it and I know how to be safe in getting the money. Don't let one thing intimidate you. Take lots of pictures and put them on kodakgallery.com so you can send them without clogging an e-mail. Answer their questions and it will work out.

Sounds weird to me. I agree with Ardly. They can look all they want in your driveway. When they take it for a test run go with them. You can't be to careful now a days.

I guess I'd be inclined to drive it to their place for inspection for them.  Maybe they want to see if their horse fits in it.  Or if it fits in their driveway.

Take along a good book to read to pass the time.
