Yesterday there was a gooseneck hitch that really looked trick it had a quick release and cable to release with which my knees would appreciate. I was just wondering if anyone had tried them. They were about 269 dollars and I can't even remember the name of them but they had and ad on the home page. Sure looked good.

I have seen them, but you will still need to have safety chains on your trailer. Looks like you will still have to climb in the bed to hook them as well. I have both a gooseneck trailer and a fifth wheel camper and really like having the ability to hook up using the fifth wheel and not have to use any safety chains. It is much easier on the knees. Of course swapping out the goosneck hitch and the fifth wheel can be a pain at times.

Fulton gooseneck couplers have the spring loaded cable latch and so does Popup in the shortbed extensions. I like them. Safety chains are a pain, I might have to put a hook on each end so I can reach them from the side or tailgate.

Is there a "rule" on where the chains have to be connected? My "new" truck came with the ball, but no where to attatch the chains. I need to get the loops put on but want to make sure they are in the right place.

We use a quick release coupler made by Kissack. They have either a manual or an electric model available. We have used both and found them to be very good. Their web site is www.trailergear.com. They are a great company to deal with.
