Hi All,
Am new to the forum and have begun the search for a new horsetrailer. Am interested in a new 4 Star that I found on a dealers lot. This isn't a very common brand around here, so am looking for any input/comments positive and/or negative . Like the look of the trailer, seemed very well finished inside the stalls, within budget, etc. Any feedback is appreciated.

4-Star are very popular down here, and are very well made. They are in the top 5 of well made, value holding trailers. I don't think you could go wrong with it.

hopefully they are still building trailers in 15 years, since that is when I can get a new one. My steel I bought last year has gotta go that long. That is what I want to get next time!

thanks to all who've responded so far. I was really pleased with what I saw in the 4 Star trailer. Have looked at other 'higher end/bigger name/$$$' trailers and wasn't as impressed. Ya can't beat a quality, well-made product no matter how many bells and whistles you add. I am encouraged about the 4 Star. Some of the others just seemed very fluffy; fancy living quarters, and features are nice, but if welds, seams, and sharp edges are left unfinished in the horse compartment, who cares. My horses aren't disposable, so their safety is of primary concern. Again, thanks for all the input. Keep it coming if you've got more, please.

I've been looking around, too and the 4 stars seem to be really beefy-built. I'm not sure I like the design of the windows on the head side though. They seem to be difficult to use. What did you think of them?

Difficult to use? In what way? I've owned 3 4-stars and I thought they were probably the easiest out of all of the other brands I had. I have low latches though because I am, umm, height impaired.

The drop down bars - the way you have to lift the window and manuever the bars in that little groove on the side. A one-handed operation some other brands have is so much easier.

Lost an arm back in 1977, have owned a 4-star for 3 yrs. Been opening my doors with only one hand, and haven’t had any problem lowering or detaching the head door bars or just opening the head doors.

Have owned a lot of trailer over the past 33 yrs, Hart, Gore, Kiefer and Stidham. I owned a very large aluminum fabrication business for 22 yrs. before selling my business and moving on to other things. Looked at a lot of aluminum trailer and the 4-Star is right at the top with about 2 other brands.The welding on the 4- Stars is one of the best I’ve seen, Very heavy duty construction all the way around.

Wow, Reg - thought this was a "friendly place to share & learn". Just putting my 2 cents worth in... If I'm looking to spend that much money, I'd like to have all the easy-to-use features I can.
