Okay - I'm sure you guys will think this is a silly question. But what is a "351 fuel injected" engine? I'm looking at a 1996 Ford 250, 4x4 (106 miles) to pull a 2 horse trailer with (not sure if its going to be a GN or BP yet). Owner says it has 351 fuel injected engine...I don't know if that's good or bad. Also, if a truck has been outfitted with a "lift kit", is that easy to take out? I don't think I need that and think it would make the truck sit too high for a trailer. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. FoxesRCool

a 351 would be a fine motor for a two horse trailer.  It's a V-8, or 8 cylinder engine.  There would be, I believe one smaller size V-8, and a couple V-6 engines that truck could've had.  Any thing bigger would bump ya up to the 460 big block (gas hog).  The lift kit doesn't sound real impressive.  They can be taken out, but it'll probabaly be a pain.  That's up to you, if it's not a huge lift, and you go with a BP, you can get a pretty big droped draw bar for your Reese reciever.  I had an ole' '83 GMC 1 ton that sat real high and had to get a 9" drop draw bar for our BP.  Well that's about all, I guess.  Oh yeah, may want to find out what rear end gears it has in it.  The ratio, not the manufacturer.

It is essentially what is now fashionably called the "5.8 litre".
Somewhere along the way Ford changed it from carb to Fuel injection, it is at least possible that the current owner still thinks that change was a big deal - at the time it was. You might also see it referred to as a "Windsor" or having a Windsor block - motorhead speak. It is old tech, but a good truck engine.

Lift kits...
Some are just some blocks and longer U bolts, if it is a short lift (say, less than abot 3 inches) it could be very easy to take out. If it is lifted "Stupidly High" it probably has had some significants parts changed, e.g. a longer drive shaft and getting it back to stock could be expensive.
IF the curent owner did it they may have saved the stock parts - worth asking about.

I would say if you don't want a lifted truck don't buy a lifted truck. Even if it's a really good deal it sounds like you'll have to pay to have the lift removed also you'll be paying for a new set of smaller tires (no longer a good deal?).
