Hello!  I just purchased a 1998 Sundowner with LQ.  The problem I have is the carbon Monoxide Detector keeps beeping.  I bought a new battery for the trailer thinking that was the issue..

Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Thanks!

A new battery for the trailer, or detector?  Do you have any gas appliances?  If your gas is turned off (no flames), and you replaced the battery in the detector and it still beeps then I would suggest buying a new detector.  They can go bad and need to be replaced every so often.

Thanks Teri!

I bet I need a new detector!

The battery I bought was for the trailer not the detector.

I have a one year warranty on the trailer so I will contact the people I bought it from!

Thanks again!

Is the detector hard wired in?  I would check and see if it has its own battery first.  If its hardwired it could just be telling you the back up battery needs to be changed.

Thanks Teri!

I really don't know the answer to your question.  I am going to try to get the cover off of it.  I tried the other day and could not?

If you're sure there is no CO in the LQ... The sensor on the CO detectors have a life span of about 6 years.  Yours is signaling the end of its reliable life.  Replace it.

Thanks!  I will have to take my trailer to the shop and get it replaced.

I would hope there is no CO in the trailer?  I haven't used it at all..

Hey.. I had the same problem with mine.. When I bought the trailer I decided to change the batteries in the smoke det. & the CM detector. Two days later the CM det. was going off.. found out I had an old (new) battery out of a drawer we keep batteries in..

To get the top off my detector, I had to take the wood piece it was screwed into off the trailer because I couldn't slide the top off the way they had it mounted in the trailer.  Went and bought brand spankin new batteries and have not had a problem yet.

Good luck

Thanks for that help!

Maybe I can get the detector apart and change the battery and see if that is the problem.  LOL

I did solve this problem.  I removed the fuse and put it back in and now it has stopped making that annoying noise and it is working (the light is green).
