2018 Shadow straight load two horse battery That has hardly been used and only 18 monyhs old, keeps dieing in the heat when i am not using trailer. Deka marine deep cycle cca 550 mca 675 130 minutes. This powers emergency brakes, fans, and lights when trailer not hooked to vehicle. Should I be disconnecting battery when I am not using trailer to save battery and/or should I get different battery? I know nothing about batteries or electrical in trailers so any advise is appreciated.

While 12-24 months is a typical lifespan for a deep cycle battery, yes- a disconnect switch or manual disconnection can take care of a parasitic drain. What you are using is the proper battery, it can be as much age rather than usage. And if they ever sit discharged for a while , they don't seem to recover very well.
