Hi and welcome to the forum.
I don't know SPECIFICALLY about featherlites, but on both of my trailers the VIN is stamped into the rail. On the gooseneck trailer it is on the left side, maybe halfway between the coupler and the drop wall. The bumper pull trailer also has it on the left, about halfway along the frame rail from the coupler to the front of the body.
Hope this helps.
Based on previous threads, be VERY CAUTIOUS of trailers with missing VIN tags and PLEASE DO verify that the VIN number on the trailer is the same as the one on the title, any bank documents, registration, etc. The year should also agree, though there is some doubt about calender vs model years for some manufacturers.

On my featherlite it is welded onto the hitch beam (what is the correct term for that?) on the passenger side under the sleeper. The letters/numbers are about an inch high. Difficult to miss.

How old is this trailer? Is there a title or are they telling you it sells "as is"? Those vin plates don't just fall off, they are metal and mounted securly. There has been an epidemic lately of trailer theft from dealer lots and right off peoples farms! If there is a title, it should tell the vin and length, be sure the length matches or if the trailer still has a lien the finance company will have the title/MCO with the vin on it (but they may not tell you anything for privacy reasons). Featherlite also has a warranty registration. The original purchaser would have done the warranty registration. If the person your looking to purchase from is the original owner he/she would be able to call Featherlite to get a vin replacement. You might be able to find more info by contacting Featherlite at www.fthr.com or call them at 800.800.1230 Some things they might tell you and some things they may not be allowed to again, for privacy reasons. Good luck!
