I have solar lanterns and emergancy radio. They work fine and the batteries save me $$ in the long run, but they're expensive to start out. I'm going camping all next week with my new Coleman Hot Water On Demand, so I can tell you more about how that works in a week. Wish me luck! I'm going to give it a try on Saturday just so I know all the parts work. The battery is charging now and they say it takes about 8 hrs for the first full charge. I'll keep you posted.

We have a tankless water heater in our house; it is electric because we don't have propane in the house. It works well and it is so nice since we no longer run out of hot water. It is my understanding that the gas/propane units work even better and are less expensive. We got ours from Darrell at Dasudist@aol.com
I've seen the Coleman advertised and am interested to hear how it does.

I participate in the truck camper section and there is a wealth of information on solar panels, etc... A good number of the people posting in that section drycamp or boondock, so they are looking for ways to conserve energy.
