This is my first post here.
I have a early 2000s CM Trailers straight load 2 horse trailer.
For the past 5 years a window on the passenger side has been broken/open and has been letting lots of rain water in - most of this has dripped down the wall panel.
The wood on the inside of the trailer wall has rotted - I'm in the process of tearing it all out and I'll be replacing it with plywood. I'm curious about the nuts and bolts holding the external spare tire holder on - these go through the plywood. This will be a problem if I rip all the plywood out.
So,
1. Does anyone have any experience doing this type of job?
2. Should I wedge 3/4in plywood in OR use 1/2in with a little wiggle, and then do I glue it to the metal frame?
3. The internal metal wall is rusted - how do I take care of that?

UPDATE:
After 3 hours and 1 blister I was able to remove the plywood! Unfortunately, I slightly damaged the outside sheet metal by bending a crowbar against it from the inside to get the plywood off, oh well - nothing I can do about those pointy dents that I'm aware of.
The water damage was worse than I thought - the bottom portion of the metal wall is so rusted that I can poke my finger through it with enough pressure. This is about a 4 inch wide section all along the bottom of the wall, with worse spots in the bottom corners. I'm looking to get a welder to come attach new sheet metal there after I use some rust remover, hopefully thin sheet metal isn't too expensive. After that, THEN I will re-attach the plywood.
There are some screws throughout the wall that I'm going to have to have a lot of faith removing since I think they hold together some part of the frame on the passenger side.
Also, still working on removing the spare tire holder since it will take 2 people to remove the screws as they just keep spinning with no traction - even with WD40.
I've attached pics below:
