Where should I carry my 21' box gn horsetrailer to grease the wheel bearings? Also to have the electric breaks checked. This is a S&h 3 horse, gn, 1999. When I bought it I was told the bearings had been inspected and greased a year ago. I don't believe those lugs have been off since it was made, by looking at them. I'm not ready for a frozeup bearing. I want it safe. After the lie about the bearings I want the break system checked also. Thanks for any and all information. My husband is not a horse person, so I'm on my on. This site is wonderful and has helped me so much already.

Is there a trailer service center nearby? It does not have to be a Horse Trailer dealer, An eqiptment or farm type trailer dealer will probably have a service center. The axles, bearings and brakes will be the same. Schedule an appointment and have them inspect it - sounds like it may need tires too.

where ever you take it get an esitimate on cost, a friend of mine that does not know much about things like that spent over $700 on the same thing your talking about and there was no parts involved. I would think $150 you should be the most it should cost. I would get a friend that is mechanically inclinded to help you do it yourself and save some money and teach you how to do it yourself.

3 months ago I bought this trailer, the guy that sold it to me said he had just repacked the bearings and that breaks was in good working order. I had them checked, I kept worrying about them. Here's a picture of them or rather what was left of them. Upper left shoes fell out, 1 on upper right and one on lower left, no pad for quiet a while, one on lower left, tiny bit of pad. My truck was doing all the stopping. Guess he doesn't have much respect for anyone's life. Couldn't post pic, file too large.
